Thinking about rebuilding my lsd , ever since I changed the pinoin seal it has a bad whine . So I've heard the only way to fix is a rebuild .

I know the diff is a btr 78 series , can't seem to find a repair manual on the net ,
Anyone know where I can get a repair manual from and a rebuild kit ?
I have a dial indicator and a range of tools , and mechanical knowledge being a fitter .

I can have a read through the repair Manual once I find one and decided whether its too hard or not .

I had a little look Corey and i found this:
http://broon.wordpress.com/valiant-info/

Read down through the "diff" section.
It has some links to some information but it seems there are limited resources for these BW78's.
It was also suggested that a local library may have a workshop manual for these diffs.
Hopefully that helps you out a bit.

Cheers

Sam

Thanks Sam
I actually found that posted on a skylines forum before lol

I'll have to keep looking for one , or just get the diff rebuilt by a specialist .

I have only been able to find one diff shop in the Illawarra , Illawarra gear and diff , they quoted me $850 to rebuild my diff . Any good ? Basically told him my preload needs doing and i wanted new bearings , he said $850 so I'm guessing it's a rebuild , said it would take a day

Im not too sure to be honest lol.
Not too good when it comes to diffs. I have a mechanic mate who is going to help me pull mine down and do a quick rebuild with a 4x4 systems lokka. But i am putting my full trust in him knowing what he is doing haha. Hopefully i can understand them a bit better.
Is there a workshop manual available for similar diffs? Surely it would be similar to other BW diffs, just some slight size differences.

I know Gregory's or hanies make a manual on gearboxes so surely they would make a diff one ? Might have a look at supercheap , auto barn . Etc
