Hi,

Iv searched the web on different forums trying to find my answer but I can't find exactly what I'm looking for. So.........

I jacked up my au to see if the diff was an lsd diff, I spun one wheel the other spun the same way....looking like a lsd, I got my girlfriend to hold one tyre while I tried to spin the other, wouldn't budge.. 2 for 2. BUT I can't find any I.D tags on the housing so I tried the burnout method both tyres spun then the car started to drift and it went into a single pegger. I'm thinking it's a lsd that's worn or just needs a oil change. Can anybody elaborate on this? I was thinking if I spun the tail shaft and counted the revolutions of both wheel and tail shaft I could get some kind of ratio to help me out? Any advice would be appreciated.

Cheers,
Fullyforded

Update!

I jacked the rear up to adjust the handbrake and it's turned into a open diff..... I must have a very expensive diff that can change operating "modes" at will.

Probably the best way - you can get the ratio off the side of the crownwheel, and check if the cones (if LSD) have bottomed out.
