The brakes calibers were cleaned and all pads and rotors replaced - it all went well until I drove from Auckland to Wellington and back to Auckland - 100k/h for 7 hours either way - any ideas

might have picked up some crap off the road (stone) but if in doubt, I would check by taking the offending caliper off and having a look.

took it into the shop actually and had all 4 calibers cleaned up - went well until the wheel alignment and new tyres were put on - the sound started again
