Been looking at the no, 2 mod for a while now and it seems hard to find any, ive searched a few wreckers with no luck, so it seems a no.3 will be the best way to go as you know what your getn i spose. Then i could go from 3.08 (auto) to 3.5 or even 3.7, def help the falc move a bit better.

Preston Automatics & Diff's will rebuild your diff, with any gears you want for $750. Then add another $350 for LSD.

So for $1100, thats a full diff gear change and LSD, drive in drive out.

So if your only after LSD, $350-400 fitted. They have a good reputation, and heaps of cars go there for their transmission and diff work.

Half way there.

Speed sender gear, off with the brown on with the black.

Took Concorde (Phil) and myself best part of 5 hours to fit (with numerous beer breaks).

You should have gotten the grey gear. Its the one specified for 15" and 17" wheels. Make your speedo almost perfect.

The black gear is only for the 16" wheels with 3.45.

Hows it go? I'm sure you've given it a good test. :D

yeah, just got back from a test drive, very happy with it, no noises or funny handling. A good changeover.

Anyone, else who's done this bother getting the XR ECU? I know the shift points a different between the two, but so far that hasn't seemed to have made any difference.

edit:
According to here: http://www.fordmods.com/forums/documents.php?doc=30

Going from 3.08 with 205/65R15s (stock for my car) with a 20tooth sender to what I've done (235/45R17s, 3.45, 23tooth) is a 0.3% difference. A 22toother sender makes is a -3.5% change.

$1100 dollars is not a bad price

considering i work at a ford dealer who rebuilds diffs, steering and transmissions and we charge about that price for them as well

a brand new 3:45 crownwheel and pinion costs $685 plus tax
and a full bearing kit is $307 plus tax

After giving it a flogging yesterday, the shif tpoints don't seem to be an issue. But I'm looking at getting a XR head/cam soon, so I'll still be on the lookout for a EL XR Auto ECU.

yes. And although I don't have any official times (yet). The g-tech shows more acceleration, as you'd expect.
