I pulled into home tonight around 6.50pm and as I turned full lock I heard this ominous grinding sound - metal on metal....front passenger side...eerie.

Popped the wheel off and sure enough - brake pads almost worn away completely - just the outer edge of teh backing plate touching the outer edge of the disk.

I suppose it's the best thing it could have been - at least I can change them myself. Anything else and I would have been in trouble.

Only problem is I will be late for work tomorrow as I'll need to get some pads when the shops open and then fit them, then shower and dress for work.

I checked my spreadsheet - I put these pads in when I put my new slotted dba rotors in - all from Hightek brakes.

The pads only lasted 18,700 odd kilometres.

Is this bad for pads? It is an auto.
Serves me right for buying the cheap pads I guess..
