nah, i have the right resistors in the wrong size. i have 5.6 ohm 5w and 18ohm 5w. and i have lots of them

and i cant get 10w items from anywhere, nowhere in warwick stocks them, and i cant order them off the net, as i need a credit card to do it, they dont have an option for Bpay...

i have to wait till i go to a bigger town to get them i guess...

so with the switch the middle one for the power goes to a 12V sourse in the car?

cheers

if i remember correctly, these resistors give a fairy harsh jolting change?

say you wanted a less harsh change, still firm, but not a harsh jolt that people describe.. what resistors would you use?

If you put the resistors in series and parallel then you will get the resistance and wattage you need... :D

You can use them like in the pic to get the 10W you need, both ways of wiring will do the same thing.
As long as all the resistors are the same it works with all values to double the power rating.. :P

yes and no...
Yes it will result in the correct resistance, but by effectively having 2x36ohm resistors in parallel, you are introducing more inductance.
This will play tricks with the ecu and may result in weird behaviour of the line pressure circuit and could possibly trigger limp mode...

Your not an Electronics Engineer are ya???

I'm just a lowly tech  and your right on the extra inductance from the wire wound resistors.
And that might only make a difference in a high frequency circuit but seeing as the solenoid wiring is an output of the ECU and is a slow varying 12v signal, I doubt the tiny extra inductance will do squat!!.

You will find, if you connect as oscilloscope, that it is actually a PWM signal and can reach 40kHz. Therefore the slightest bit of induction, can have a large effect on the wafeform...

Wow, i would have liked it if my electrical engineering lecturer had explained to me how that worked!!

I new about the resitance thing, but i hadnt realised you added wattage in parallel (makes sense in hindsight, but thats not the point!!)

C**k!! :?

sweet well i've done it all right then. ill post up some stuff tomorow when i get a bigger box to put it in and i have it all installed. with pics of my until then new tyres...

oh yeah, i have my kit wired up to a relay that is operated by the electric aerial switch that goes above the rear demister switch, just for extra stealth. its a simple thing to wire in, and far less obvious to prying eyes.

all part of my plan for a stealth falcon...

cya
Ben

oh yeah, and if i were to put a 3.45 lsd in my car, is it possible to adjust the speedo electronically?
