Will a t56 box bolt onto a ef bellhousing?

But, a BA bellhousing will fit an EF (I'm assuming we are talking 6 cyls here) and only miss a couple of bolts holes, or an AU motor perfectly. |

yes the top 6 bolts will bolt up but not the lower bolts

You mean those bottom two arms won't line up? Input shaft is the same? Also can I use the ef flywheel and clutch fork assembly or would I have to go hydraulic clutch?

yes the bottom arms wont line up,and you will need a hydraulic pedal set up..
you will also need to change the clutch as the t56 has a 28 or 32 spline input shaft? compared to the e series/au 10 spline clutch.. and considering from your previous posts your going with high power turbo set up you will be best off going with a ba flywheel and clutch set up aswell.. |

Yah, they won't line up. No problem though. No different from the guys using AU motors and E-series gearboxes.
Yes, input shaft will work. No, standard clutch will not work. Standard T5 clutch is 10 or 12 spline or somewhere around that number. T-56 is 20 something teeth. Just use a BA flywheel, that will match up to the BA clutch you will need. You would most likely have to go hydraulic. There is no easy fork option that I am aware of. I do know Mal Wood sell a T-56 kit with cable clutch, but never bothered to look into it myself, I wanted hydraulic. Much nicer to use and no concerns about breaking the firewall any more. |

So not as simple as I thought. Yeh I blew my t5 last night 3rd gear on a running in tune. Spewin it was a reco box out of improved preduction race car. So I'm looking for other ideas but not too much money.

Not necessarily a cheap option no.
I've seen guys get hold of second BA/BF boxes with a clutch and all that caper for $2500 ish. Rollin on BoostedFalcon.net has adapted a BA box to his ED and also modified a BA master cylinder and pedal to fit. Oh and the other thing I meant to mention earlier is that a standard BA onwards T56 will poke the shifter up through the floor roughly where the cup holders are. Another option is a TKO500. It's a Tremec 5 speed. Not as strong as the TKO600, but has the same number of splines as the input shaft on a T5. It will bolt up to a standard T5 bellhousing with an adaptor. They are still worth a few thousand dollars as well, and they aren't as good as the 600, like I said before. What engine have you got? My suggestion, pending your wallet balance, is to ring Mal Wood and see what your options are, especially regarding the TKO500. |

I got the 6cyl turbo looking at approx 350rwkw. I just
Spent $600 on a exedy clutch lol so I sorta want to keep it. What about top loader? That adapter your talking about in the tremic how does it work? |

Can't comment on top loaders, haven't had any experience with them.
The adaptor is just a thick plate that goes between the bellhousing and the gearbox. Adaptor bolts to bellhousing, box bolts to adaptor And yeah, you were always going to struggle with a T5 and that much poke. That's why I swapped mine out before I started to get serious with the engine.

And the tko500 that will handle my power? And ita direct fit with the plate and standard tail shaft is good still?

I believe that the 500 is rated for 500hp. BUT, I would still ring someone like Mal Wood and confirm with him.
But yes, as I understand it, it will bolt straight into the standard clutch, not sure about the tail shaft though. It's not the best solution, but it's better than using a T5. TKO 600 would take it no worries, as would the T56, and they get a larger diameter clutch to boot. |
