hey guys i need some help with my EB, yesterday and today i was changing my cam and i used the cam gear and rockers from my ef xr6 on to my AU s3 engine, put everything back together and when i went to start it it just winds over and does nothing, i set the cam timing as per an EF/EL cam, should i have set the timing the same as the Au timing marks which are set at app 11 o'clock compared to the EL timing marks. Could the dizzy timing be 180° out?

this has been covered but never fully documented.
the ratios and offsets of the rockers might be causing the issue. i think the au pedistal and e series rock arm are needed. sort of sounds like the valves are hanging. but e series cam stuff in AUs is a dark art for the most part.

i did a compression test on all the cylinders without the rockers on and there was no compression at all, found that all the exhaust are bent, i tried doing the EF cam before and the car started so maybe i bent the valves doing it then. luckily ive got a spare head to put on.

The marks on the AU cam gear are different from the EF, from memory there are two marks on the AU.

just check the valve arnt hanging in to the cylinders and arnt closing. they may not nessisaraly be bent

i checked if they were hanging but they are definitely bent cause you can see the gouge marks where the valves have hit the pistons.

bugger. have been told that there is a way to put e series stuff on an AU, but obviously thats not it.

yea i found out the hard way
 but luckily ive got the EF XR6 to put on the motor, im gettin it serviced and pressure tested etc so hopefully will have the car running by next week.
