Has anyone attempeted a successful conversion of replacing the disturbutor of an EL falcon 6 cylinder engine to 6 individual coil packs like many late model cars?

Yes, but using an aftermarket ECU.

Can you please provide any details of the aftermarket ECU setup?

dsyfer did individual coils on his EF using an EMS8860, BI6TIM (boostedfalcon.net) did LS1 coils on his ED using an EMS8860.... There are 2 places to start your research.

No problems. You will have to join boostedfalcon to find BI6TIM's build thread and read through it all. It will show you how to do individual coils quite well.
