can ya run a line strait from a fuel pump to say a jerry can or is there a possability that fire could run down the line into the jerry can? is it safe?

It should work for a test, be a bit careful though and make sure there's no sources of ignition around, and only do it for a test, it's no permanant solution, dont drive the car like that.
