What exactly is a reconditioned Injector? Is it getting a professional to pull it a part and replace bits inside, or is it just a through clean out and new o-rings?

theres an injector cleaning website in the U.S. i came across awhile ago which shows each step and equipment used to fully reco injectors.... theres a fair bit of time involved, which makes me very cynical about how reco'd the cheap eBay injectors really are.....
my guess is the ebay ones are just filter, o-ring and black paint. edit: this might be the website i remember, although a few of them seem to use the same pics http://www.cruzinperformance.com/injsteps.html |

							Cheers fellas
Just wondering, as I was thinking of 'taxing' some AU injectos from the wreckers and flushing them out/reconditioning them myself. The question now is; would it be possible for a novice like me to do this? or would it be best left to a professional? or should I just buy pre reconditioned injectors? |

{USERNAME} wrote: {USERNAME} wrote: or should I just buy pre reconditioned injectors? it costs around $300 - $350 for a set of new ones Just looking at this post and going through a similar thing myself... My EL Fairmont wagon is running like a dog at idle and pretty sure its the injectors as they have never been cleaned in the cars 230k/kms. I notice there are 'Bosh' injectors which are supposed to be the same as originals for sale on eBay for less than $200 for a set of 6. Am I best to spend the $200 and renew the injectors or have the originals 'cleaned and flow benched' at cost of $420? I am satisfied that I can take them out and re-fit the injectors myself although I do believe the fuel rail will need cleaning which I will have to get done professionally whichever way I go (new or recoed). Thanks for your assistance. PS. I know the extremely rough idle problem is not electrical as I have just gone ahead and replaced the dizzy, coil, leads, plugs etc. Cheers,

I just got a set of 6 Bosch AU injectors from Sarina Wreckers on ebay - were advertised as "reconditioned" but look brand spankin' slick as spit new!! Not that you can tell much by appearance I know, but I'm happier they're like this than caked in crap and looking like they spent 2 years buried in the back paddock... $124 the set inc. express post.
