Hi, I have a 97XH van, motor sad, and an 98EL motor and auto in good condition.

Question is can I fit motor and box from the el into the van,

I am thinking so but would like any advice or comments.

Will go no probs
I just fitted an el donk into a xg last weekend
Things i swapped were, intake manifold and accessories
Engine mounts
I had to swap crank pulley and power steering etc as xg runs 3 belts, but from memory, xh has serpentine, might just need to swap the tensioner / adjuster
A/C bracker, can leave compressor in vehicle!!

Thanks for that, should be no problem,

Run the EL BBM if you can, will give the most benefit out of the engine change - EL ECU is plug in.
