So i just acquired a AU Fairlane, Very nice car, nice to drive. But i really hate the intake resonator. I've blanked it off with a large welsh plug and have noticed a slight increase in intake noise, which is what i wanted. But my question is, what is everyone else's thoughts/ideas on it? Is it purely just a resonator to cut down on the intake pulses/noise? And if disconnected will it have an effect on the MAF due to the increase in inlet pulsation?
Thanks.

It was just a noise thing.....4 cylinders are worse for this....have a look at a late 90's Camry....they have 2 big air boxes for this reason.

The resonator is a pointless piece of plastic in my opinion. Once removed it looks alot neater and it doesn't increase induction noise very much so I'm glad I removed the resonator from my AU 5.0 ute.
Here's a pic of how I blocked mine up...

You could also use an EB Series 1 intake which doesnt have the dog turd in it.

Today I got a early E Series 5.0 intake pipe and modified it to fit the sensor on my AU 5.0 and here's the result (Still need to clean it). I used the rubber grommet from the top radiator mount from a AU and the sensor fits in perfectly...
