Good afternoon.
Ive seen transmission rebuild kits on evil bay for $300 is this something a diy enthusiast could tackle them selves? I have access to the genuine ford workshop manual and ive done things like basic engine rebuilds. Auto to manual conversions etc. Has anyone ever tackled this themselves or is it a specialist with specialty tools only thing? Thank you

most ive done is oil pump replacement on a gearbox.
i pulled the output shaft and had a look at it and was like. nope nope nope.  .best bet would be get a broken box and have a play. but it does not seem like fun.

Not something I would try myself. Too easy to stuff it up.

Yeah i have to agree.
I pulled my old one apart after i did a manual conversion just to see and holy crap they look complicated. I did find all the material of half of the clutches and front band was worn away (clutches we weird as it wasnt even wear around the plates)but stuffed if i had any idea how to put it back together lol Im happy with my t5 anyway. Cheers.
