Hi Guys as mentioned in the heading my XR6S has got a knock coming from the engine, it's most apparent when the car is idling sounds to be pretty slow. Seems to slow down or not as loud when revving. The engine has been knocking like this quietly for past 3ish years that I've owned the car. Recently I did a thermo fan conversion and replaced some dodgy belts so overall the engine has become quieter and is making this knock more noticeable than it has ever been. The engine has approx 250xxx KM, have just blue slipped and regoed it but a now im too worried to drive it cause I don't want to blow it up if if its a rod, bearing etc. The oil pressure does seem to fluctuate towards the lower side so make of that what you will.

Hoping some one can give me some advice to at least going about diagnosing what could be causing this noise. I'm currently in the middle of pulling the rocker cover off but not sure how much I will be able to see underneath there and have never pulled the head before so any advice appreciated.

Silly question but it doesn't have too much oil in it ?

I'll need to check in the morning to be sure but it's definitely persisted over multiple oil changes.

Sometimes when there is too much oil or the car is on an angle the crank slapping in the oil can cause a similar noise.
