Hi, Does anyone know of an all round scanner that I can plug into my Falcon Fairmont 2003 without blowing anything up. Im having strange symptoms with my ABS/ Traction lights and would love to be able to diagnose the problem or anything else for that matter without somehow breaking the computer. Im obviously not a mechanic.

If it's an AUiii they are not fully OBD2 compliant and you will need to trigger the fault codes the old fashioned way.

I absolutely don't understand what you mean. I have zero knowledge about codes or scan tools.

which means it's a BA. also the AU2/3 will let you into some of the ECU/system but not all.

i use a OBDLinkEX as mentioned by Forscan with a usb connection. i use a basic windows 10 laptop to run the Forscan program with no issues so far [been using for a few years now] and will work on your BA.

Look for a scanner that not only reads generic OBD-II codes but also can read manufacturer-specific codes, as ABS and traction control issues may require manufacturer-specific codes for accurate diagnosis.

Ok thanks. My ABS seems to kick in when I'm going slow. At first I thought it was normal because I haven't had a car in years and I don't recall having ABS breaks. I hope its not causing damage.

Plus the abs and traction control lights often come on for no apparent reason.

The scanner can read fault codes, monitor sensor data, and provide valuable information about the vehicle's performance. drift hunters

i used to get this with my BA ..... then i had issues with the engine [or so i thought!]. turned out my catalytic converter blocked up  . changed it ova for another and then had no issues with the BA?. also check sensors & make sure clean with no damaged wiring.
