i have recently aquired a 12/81 fairmont and i am noticing the oil gauge jumps around is this normal it sometimes goes right up into the red then flicks back down what would be causing this

my 93 ebII fairmont does that too...

used to happen a bit then it stopped... has since started doing it everynow and again (again).

I think its just a loose/shorting wire or somethin because i cant see the pressure coming up and dropping like that.

unless pressure valve or something was sticking.
