One of my mates has got an EF fairmont with a Pioneer single CD player fitted and the power antenna has been playing up because as my mate drives the antenna goes up and down - what can be causing this and how can it be fixed - I said to him it may be a crosswire in the audio system wiring or maybe a bad earth.

Sounds like its being told to go up and down in the wiring or BEM even?

Sounds to me like a broken wire somewhere. If a broken wire is intermittantly making a connection, then when the power is cut off the antenna will go down, when the conection is made again it then goes back up.

I juts pushed the antenna height selector button off when the car was off - it never happened again - very weird - I guess that is a) Ford gremilns @ work, or b) the result of the poor installation of aftermarket systems.
