Also, is it true that the EEC-V develops its maps over time, so one dud tank of fuel can screw you for weeks?

If so, probably a good plan to scrub the memory every month or so....

I dont think scrubbing the memory would give any benifit over the effects of some bad fuel. I also find my transmission runs very s**t when the ecu has been wiped so I think its something to avoid.

So is playing with the crank angle sensor a viable option for changing EF base timing?

There is a unit you can buy that changes your timing to a preset degree to use with petrol/gas setups, I don't know what its called ,who makes it or where to get it but Iknow it exists as I owned an XD 351 on gas with it when I bought it ,I found gas can take up to 10 deg more advance, making it more "efficiant". Mine was a sprintgas set up maybe they know about it?

Carefull not to advance it too far as it will start to hunt at idle. I found this out on my EECV in my ED went fine for a little while then started to hunt, retarded it back to 4 deg and it was fine again (std is 0 +-2) and yeah wait the 2 min before you adjust.

Neil, I have this when the air conditioning is on and its in drive.

Drop it to neutral and it goes away. Wont be a problem for long though :)

I guess you cant compare the two due to different types & styles of engines, as the clevo I ran on BBQ fuel could hande 12-18 degrees initial timing ,but max advance was limited to 25 deg @ 3200rpm, this was the happiest on the dyno, but petrol was happy at 10 deg initial and max 30 deg @ 4000rpm. I couldn't set up for the two so I pulled out the fuel tank to resist temptation.
