Yep, the TCM is where the shift programs are stored.

The diff ratios would be the main thing to keep an eye on, say if you go to a 3.45.

Dunno whether they'd shift later or harder.

So I could match up an EL XR8 trans comp to my EL V8 and have the advantage of the shiftpoints. Were there any other differences between the Trans comps?

XR's had a sharper/firmer shift as well to give a sportier feel about them.

As far as I know they are interchangable for all EF & EL's, looking in the factory repair manual. Are you after an XR TCM ?

I might be interested in an EL XR8 tranny computer... but considering the engine mods in progress atm it would depend on price.

Ok need some MAJOR help here. Have an EF/EL XR8 motor and gearbox to put into my 67 mustang. From what I can tell the gearbox is an 97LE. The big F**k I have is the wiring for the TCM. I have looked at s**t loads of wiring diagrams and they all seem to show EEC-IV's with a separate TCM. The ECU I have is an EEC-V (104-pin). There are a few wires coming from the gearbox, however these go straight to the ECU. I can't seem to find a place for the TCM.

I went down to the wreckers and have acquired the loom from A LTD but can't see how it fits into the big scheme of things. I might go find an XR8 for sale at a car yard and have a look but can any guru's here help clear this up? |
