I had it off a while ago, when i put it back on i put loctite on the thread, no matter what i try i cant get it off! Any suggestions? I realise its a left hand thread, but the problem im having is i cant hold the pulley behind and get a spanner on it?

I bet you don't do that again, the engine rotation tightens it up so locktite is not needed. You need to make a tool from a piece of 4mm flat steel togo over the bolts holding the pulley onto the pump. There is a diagram of how to make one in the workshop manual.

Try wedging a large screwdriver between the waterpump pulley bolts to hold the pulley still then get the spanner on the fan nut. Has worked for me in the past.

Actually it's a right hand thread. The water pump is reverse rotation which is why it's a std RH thread.

I always thoght it was a left hand thread too
 But anyway we tried to get the one off my EB (both ways!). Finished up removing the water pump (which we were replacing anyway and belting the f**k out of it. Smashed the body of the pump and put vice grips on shaft and big spanner on hex head. Still wouldn't come off. So out come the 9 inch grinder. We cut the shaft at the fan. Removed the pulley and put thermos and a new water pump on. Fixed!!! 
Pretty rough though!
