"supposed" is such a "suggestory" word :P but 180 kph is the number you are looking for!

only the autos (limited by the ECU), manuals are unlimited (well except by certain laws of phsyics).

But given a suitable long road, and a tail wind, the 220 on the speedo should be jus the beginning.

Sorry dude, but I beg to differ. My factory 5 speed EL Futura is most definatly limited at 180kp/h. I think manual XR's aren't limited. But manual standard models certainly are.

I thought they were limited because the tailshaft could not handle speeds over 180. Manual and auto both use the same tailshaft dont they??

I didn't think it could limit the manuals, as it is based of a calculation of, diff ratio, gear in use (if its auto the ECU picked it so it knows), and RPM.

But I guess if you've tried and 180 is it, then I guess it must only be the XRs and Cop Packs.

My car is an EF GLI
I Put an EL XR6 Motor in it, and a T5 manual conversion.
We then got a manual XR6 ECU and LSD.

Had no problems getting the car up to 200km/h
Would have gone more - but Im not a fan of going that fast.... Just wanted to see if it would go past the 180 mark.

BTW - Before all these mods, it would only go to 180

Hope this helps you?

Its based on two limiters :
There is the Rev Limiter (all models)
and there is Speed limiter, which works off the Speedo sensor just the same as the speedo does.

You can have them deleted etc.
I believe tickford also used a different tailshaft for a little more (and police-pack as well??)

I believe the autos are all limited as the internals wont go harder than that (supposedly)

um and also if u have LPG then it is unlimited as it only cuts the injectors and since LPG doesn't use the injectors then the limits are no good  8-)

Ok, for the record.

ALL EECV cars are limited to 180kph from the factory with the following exceptions
XR Sedans - have varing limits from 210kph to unlimited...regardless of transmissions
Police packs - see XR Sedans
T Series - Same as XR sedans with the exception of the TL50's which had a 180kph limit.
LPG Cars - limiter does not work on LPG

Note: ALL XR utes were 180kph speed limited.

I read that TL50's were speed limited at 190 - im just being picky haha.
What about the 1st ever t series; the FBT, ive had it to 185 but thats it, wasnt trying to do speed run, just overtake.
