Hey Leo, welcome to ford mods.
I used to have an xf fairmont and the power windows were stuffed in it too, I just went to a few wreckers and found all the bit's I needed to replace, was pretty cheap (can't remember how much exactly but is was around $150). After about a days worth of work all the windows were working perfectly, no need to resort to winders. Eather way have you tried any wreckers in your area? Cheers.

If you strip down and service your motors, you should find they'll do the job. This is recommended as they're getting on a bit in years.
IMO the X series scissor regulators are better than the E series cable setup. If you're up to it, try following this guide (for stripping down): http://www.fordmods.com/forums/documents.php?doc=81 or http://members.dodo.com.au/~algis/index4.htm
