Pretty sure I had all the fingers collapse on the clutch on my XH today; either way it's f**k. To top it off the headgasket has just let go externally. The question is: do I remove the engine or the gearbox to repair both? Would love to do the bottom end but finances prohibit this (mainly because I would get carried away and create something that I couldn't drive to work everyday

remove engine and box its much easer to work on out of the car...

only takes a few hours to do the clutch , i would do that first then the headgasket , to remove the whole lot is just creating more work than required

If you're not already doing this:
Use a trolley jack to support and wheel the g/box in, also to lower/raise it. Rotate the output shaft shaft to make the input shaft line up, etc. Easy does it, and you'll make it . . . .

yay!!!! got the bastard back together tonight. Problem turned out to be a misaligned clutch. REPCO will be getting their u-buet gee-whiz multi fit clutch aligning tool back...thru their f**k window

Also forgot to thank all the people that replied in the thread about which oil to put in the box. I used 80/90 and the thing shifts like a knife thru butter
