whats the best way to go about the ignition system wiring?

can it be done with the tfi? or do i need to change to a carby xf dizzy with an ignitor? or is it better to use a coil pack?its an au engine that stll has the crank sensor inplace cheers

you can use the TFI to provide the trigger pulse, but you will need to run a seperate coil ignitor.

You will also need to modify the distributor, and move the chopper wheel to provide the correct reference point, from memory it was around 60* before tdc. Much easier to use the CAS if its an AU engine |

do you know if the carby xf dizzys chopper wheel is already set at 60 degrees?

no, they need to be modified to work with a wolf - its a bit of messing around to get it right.

cool,si if i use the tfi for the output and then an ignitor to the coil with the chopper wheel set right it should be all good?

i used an M&W ignitor. i had to modifiy the dizzy ,i took off the TFI modual and replace it with a part of an EA or XF dizzy i think it was it plugs into the part where the TFI plugs into but theres no tfi there its just a plug with 3 wires coming out of it .i then had to move the hall effect sensor inside .i cant remember it all as my mech did most of it .and then you have to set that at the right degrees and then set the base ,so when you setup the wolf you can get the most amount of advance

thanks for your help and advice guys,i used an ignitor.modifying the dizzy was easy as i took out the hall effect sensor and elongated the holes so its fully adjustable now, like points kinda, measured 30 degrees of dizzy rotation and set it there,it was a few degrees out but the wolf can go to 90degrees,mines at about 70degrees of crank rotation btdc

it should be a CLEAN signal ,mines comes up with it sometimes but if it runs fine i wouldnt worry about it
