You cant make a 302 windsor into a 351, because the deck height is different.
302s are 8.2", 351s are 9.5". Clevos are 9.2" or thereabouts.

The Windsor V8's are a 90 degree block. They look narrower beacause the heads are narrow, compaired to a Clevo.
The 351W has a larger crank, as in the Mains are big. They are 3" in dia, compaired to a 351 Clevo, so you can't fit a 351W crank into a 302W block, but you can fit a 351C crank into a 302C block.

I think the last falcon they were fitted to was a first series XW. After that, they went to the Clevo donks.

'87 to '97 5.8L F-series trucks had the EFI 351W. All OHV Ford V8's are 90 degrees. People constantly, and wrongly think 289/302's have a 60 degree Vee because their deck height is so short. The basic differences are that the late model 5.0 has a lighter block(25lbs lighter!) with taller roller lifter bores and a lighter crank(smaller centre counterweights) hence it has a 50oz imbalance compared to earlier 302's which have the same 28oz imbalance as 351W's and Clevelands. Heads are similar with the exception that the late heads have stamped steel bolt on rockers and the early heads had rail-type cast rockers and the water jackets are slightly different(but still interchangeable) also from the AU model the engines got better GT40P(also referred to as Explorer heads) heads which flow better than the earlier heads. |
