I would like to change to running coil pack on my NL V8. I've been looking into the EDIS-8 modules. Im just wondering whats involved in changin over. From the information ive been able to find is looks like it dosnt require cam angle sensor, just crank sensor with the 36-1 wheel and can be connected into the PIP and SAW that normaly go to the TFI. Is this information correct? What else would be required to modify? E.G. timing cover (AU one witht the mounting point to VR sensor).
Thanks |

What computer are you going to use to run it? Megajolt?
Yep, you could use an AU timing cover, pickup, and balancer. I hope the accessory belt still lines up with the AU balancer? I am not sure about the cam angle sensor. I am pretty sure its purpose is to tell the computer when #1 is at TDC on the compression stroke. Read the Megajolt documentation.....it should tell you what you need to know about this. |

was hoping to just use the stock EECV. Just going by the fact that the fords in the US using EECIV & V to run the EDIS-8 module and no cam sensor. Just dont know if this will work on our versions of the EECV

An A6 might be much easier and cost less..

Can one ask......
Why??? is there a benefit to the coil pack ignition over the dizzy???

better spark as the coil has more time to recharge between events..
if you think about a coil that to provide spark for all 8 cylinders, ie recharge for all 8 at 6000rpm, versus a coil that only has to provide spark for 1 cyl... also you avoid the problem of spark jumping to the wrong pin on the dizzy, which can occur at high advance values.. timing is also more accurate due to the removal of the engine harmonic feeds up thru the cam gear and into the dizzy.. realisticly tho in a street engine a CDI box will be alot easier to impliment and work almost as well..

I used MSD digital 6 & Blaster II coil - worked fine.
These will be surplus as have changed to Motec M800 & individual coils. Richie.

Use an A9L EEC and reconfigure for DIS ignition with whatever eec tuning device you have. You'll need an AU cam encoder and we can make you a 36-1 crank encoder wheel to press on to your balancer after weve machined a step on the back of it. Otherwise use an AU EECV and don't use an EDIS-8 module and we'll flash the smartshield out of it for you.

I like the sounds of that. whats required to change to an AU EEC? just adding cam sensor and crank sensors? What sort of cost would it be for the parts? |
