Has anyone out there used the Lunati brand of cams? I've been loking at this one due to the broader operating range, but know bugger all about cams really. Hypothetically, it would be going into a 363 with the little twisted wedge heads with 1.7rrs and street heat intake, for now.

Thanks, I've been looking at that cam for a while now. I even considered buying it to throw in the current combo, but there would have been too much lift with the 1.7s, I think.
I've also been recomended another one, which I think is Comp but no idea of the model number or anything. The Trick Flow's price makes it a lot more attractive!

should work good on a stroker.
how hard do you wanna rev the thing?. might be better with a different manifold? the trickflow cam link suggested is smaller in terms of the lunati but may work better with say ported gt40 style intake and reving up to 6000rpm. Where a lunati and a holley system max II reving to 6400rpm would produce different power and torque again. Maybee less average hp but higher peak hp and a shift in torque in the revs (with a lower torque rating then a long runner manifold combo wth the rickflow intake)....a bit better for the strip. Then theres a price different between the 2 cams. Id say if your gona go with the lunati then you might as well go with a comp xe282hr, it has higher lift with 1.7 to make use of the heads 0.600 inch lift of flow. I would also be looking into porting the heads as well to squeeze more out that combo at .600 lift.... as they would be your biggest restricion in that set up on a stroker. There is also the option of going custom cam, which will produce the best results. The game is in your ball park! up to you what you want to run. Either way it would produce a crap load of torque/power at any rpm but heres the thing. whats the BEST combos for your appliaction (street/strip) ![]() |

Heads and intake will be staying as is for now. I'm not spending any money on these just now. Only got budget for the bottom end for now and they'll be upgraded in time.
But yeah, really was wondering if anyone has any experience with the Lunati stuff. I think the Trick Flow will win out on price anyways.

Scaffy i'm running a crane came part no 449601 in my 5.0 combo that has roughly the same lift as that cam with 1.6 roller rockers but my block has been decked 10thou to up the compression and it runs great. Can get it to idle in the high 600rpm range but to low for the auto so its bumped up to 750-800rpm.I was told by quite a few tunners not to go over 232 with the duration as idle quality becomes very hard.Have you thought of going to a solid cam with the 363.

I drive the car too much to go solid. I've heard that the solid cams are only good for 5000km. Is this correct?
One other thing. I've noticed in the cam descriptions on the Summit site, it says whether they are computer compatible. What makes them compatible with a computer controlled vehicle and not?

I have heard it depends on how much lift you are running.
They make solid rollers cams too..
