Does anyone know how to get rid of that fan noise on my EB centre point engine, its all good when the engine has just finished a long trip, but it just sounds very....well sh it around town.
I have read something about thermofans but like I said HEARD I have never actually seen anyone get rid of this problem withour changing the whole engine. Please help me get some street cred back hahahahahahahahahahaha

Youre talking about the noise from the clutch fan ?

Yes you can install EF/EL thermo fans into an EA, As long as you have the late model radiator. The radiator needs to have the mounting points for the Thermo's shroud. The early EA radiator didn't have these AFAIKR. You can tell if you do, by looking at the tops of each radiator tank and look for a captive nut moulded into each tank, if it there you have a late model radiator.
The thermo fans will require a thermatic switch such as Davis craig to operate them.

dont use ef fans
use the el ones cause they are 1 speed and the ef ones are 2 speed and dont work properly

EA radiator would be the same as EB and ED.. none of them have all the mounting hardware required to mount the fans properly, however, that said on both my EB's (4L and 5L) im running EF Thermo fans on EB radiators.. they only bolt in on one side.. the other side can hang free, or just be cable tied.
The EF fans will work correctly if you know how to wire them up.. but the EL fans are certainly a bit easier to hook up.

Here is info on wiring ef fans to el/au/ba, and wiring el/au/ba to ef.
http://www.fordmods.com/forums/documents.php?doc=54 The craig Davies controller is okeyish, we are running one on an EL that the EEC shat itself and no longer controls the Relays for the Fans (This car was Heavily Habibed). Id imagine that it would be pretty easy to create a circuit that ran of the Temp sender that switched the fan on at a certain temp. The temp sender is just resistance based, so a simple Transistor/resistor/capacitor/relay combo should work okeyish. You could have an extra circuit that turns on the second fan at an even higher temp.... Though I cant be stuffed calculating a circuit right now Lol, you could modify the cornering lamp circuit in the mods section to do something like this. Hope this helps Oh P.S. New Radiators can be had now for as little as $120 (Sydney, dunno bout anywhere else) Thermo fans for EF are something like $160 Brand new. So the outlay isnt a bank breaker if you want to try it out.

I think you will find that EL fans are 2 speeds as well. Mine run at two speeds and the wiring diagram for them shows that they run at two speeds as well.
Another option you may consider is to get Davies Craig fans as well.

I'm going to put some EL thermos into my EA later on, but I just realised if I did, I'd lose the snorkel bit on top of the fan shroud/ cowling. Since its been converted to MPI, what would be my options for intake?
Just use an EF/EL/AU snorkel? Or (noooooo!) pod? just wondering.

yes.. i have done it on an ea cpi falcon.. i used au fans tho as i had the old radiator without the mounting clicks..

Just use an EF/EL/AU snorkel? Or (noooooo!) pod? just wondering. On my EA I used. I think it was XG. You can't use EF/EL/AU as the snorkel goes into the bottom of the air box on those models, as opposed to the top on your EA
