It has been done before, you'll pick up torque over a 351 but not necessarily any horsepower. If you choose to go that route be sure to start with open chamber heads, using closed chambers will make piston choice very hard in order to get the compression down to an acceptable level.
Honestly you'd be better off putting the money into a set of CHI 185s and an intake. I see you've done a few posts regarding an engine build, what horsepower level are you looking to achieve and what is the budget?

I would like to see 500hp & 450 ftlbs of torque without having to spin the engine above 6500rpm.
The car would primarily be a street car (not daily driven) with the occasional blast down the quarter Budget for a complete turn key motor would be around $10 000 - $15 000 |

for that price you could probably get a nice warm stroker that is supper charged that will get you 500 at the treds and still be mild on the street till you drop the peddle

The question was ported 2V (not ally) heads over a stroked clevo?
Whats better stroked bottom end with ported steel 2V heads or Alloy heads over a standard stroke bottom end Street car 90% mind you |

ported cast 2v's will likely fall over on a stroker in the upper rpm, 4v's would be preferable but by the time you prep a set of casties, the alloys will be quite cost effective, plus you get a lot more gains from them due to better chamber designs etc.
It really depends on what you want the end of the day, a 351 with 2v's and a solid cam will get you around 320 at the wheels, prob enough for the street? |
