Just a little update, I 've been giving it a rest given the bad forum banter over those who cried about their signatures and then use other people'e sigs to justify their crusade. Certainly took away my enjoyment here. In my opinion, poor form and very unAustralian.

Anyway, seems the forum is running a little slow today but I'll persevere. I'm rounding up bits and pieces for the new motor:
-351 short motor;
-getting prices on some cheapy chinese alloys that I have my eye on, pro comp;
-plan on using my E303 2040 Crane cam with some 1.7 rollers;
-single plane(or dual) inlet for straight gas
-425 mixer.

I'll be copying MRE50L ignition and auto control with a 6cyl ECU with a J3 to adjust the timing, so more research here. The plan is also to rip out the petrol tank and put a gas tank in its place but that isn't something that is completely necessary until afterwards.

This setup will more than make the car "future proof" and will be great for weekend towing and day to day ecomomy. The hardest bit that I can see is the modification of the pacemakers to fit the larger motor, which there is a solution to anyway.

On the topic of inlets, what I'm after is more low down torque and a boost in my mid range. I've read that a single plane is good for LPG but sucks for torque in lower RPMs. Could anyone guide me on this one?

In all seriousness mate dodge the Pro Comps. Numerous people have tried them to see what they are like and once the cost of the extra machining etc and porting required to make them physically fit and work properly and get a reasonable figure flow wise it comes out at being pretty much the same cost as a set of AFR's.
Once you get them to work you also have the issue then of dodgy chinese alloy.

Thought you had been quiet but was thinking you might of been on holidays or somethink.The new motor should be great with extra cubes and straight gas but dont touch the pro comp heads as i've only heard bad stuff about them.A mate bought a torker look a like for a clevo and it didnt even run,when i looked at it not one single port was the same shape,some were circles,rectangles and oval shapes...

Hmm nothing is quite going to plan, I've just burnt four grand on a fireplace and been busy working on the house which consumes much of my time however....

Not much of a modification as such, more so maintenance but my brakes have been very, very tired and have no bite whatsoever when you push the brake pedal. The car struggles to stop so I thought that I'd spend some spare cash on some new brakes. I ended up getting some new rotors, standard size :( of course, with ferodo zero pads. Hopefully this will help me stop a bit better.

Also trying to secure a EB bonnet so I can prep and paint it whilst I still have the car on the road day to day. Also going to do something that is very long overdue: paint my door handles as they have lost their clearcoat ages ago. I'll post some pics soon, gotta go now.

Righto, got around to fit the new rotors and pads and while I was at it, I painted the machined parts of the rotors in silver paint and also painted the calipers and shields etc. The car actually stops too which is good. It still struggles when I'm coasting down my driveway and brake because of the poor vacuum that I have down low due to the cam but that's fixed with more effort from my right leg.

Also been busy collecting bits and pieces to finish off my interior. mystro lives nearby and he helped me out with a EL Ghia dash top and other trim bits. Also got a set of long overdue thermo fans. I just need to rearrange the factory EF thermo fan relays to suit the DL ECU and then I'm right.

Also had a bit of fun on the highway too:

Hmmm....must be the s**t roads around here taking there toll on our driveline and braking systems. Mine are up the s**t too! But I have a spare set of rotors in storage which I get out this weekend, so I might be following your lead soon. Bit scarey when you have to hit the anchors and have no faith in your stopping ability!

Damn Cessnock City Council are quick to take the cash, slow to fix the roads :evil: I've had so many very near misses where people have driven in front of me and I've had nothing, pedal on hard and still moving. Not a good feeling, especially with kids in the car. I've got some weird problems with my ABS too so it sort of makes me wonder if it has anything to do with that? Stops good now, even when I'm towing boats and trailers. I'm using the Ferodo Zero pads too.

Here is another video of cruising a bit to 100km/h. Not near as quick as when I had a manual in it but still, good for cruising and towing:

Image

I'm focussing on fixing up some of the bits of the interior conversion that I wasn't happy with. I've acquired some EL Ghia bits off mystro such as the dash top as mine was cracked bad, some carpet kick boards, EL Ghia plush pile carpet and other trim bits. Also picking up the EF/EL seat mounts that are welded to the floor with a racedirector conversion in mind. Also, just picked up a rear leather seat from lay3d low that should look good with the darker carpet and trims in the car now and the future.

Image

I have been acquiring more bits and pieces for my car pc. So far I have a small notebook that will lose its monitor, stripped version of XP and the Centrafuse 2.0 front end program. Basically will have access to all my music, some DVDs, sat-nav, internet via wi-fi, provision for a rear view camera and bluetooth for our mobile phones. Rather than go with the touch screen LCDs, I'll be going for a 7" or 8" screen and using a small touch pad moulded into the cup holder of the EF console. This decision is based on the fact that my arms are too short to stab at a screen. I'll post a few photos when the camera batteries charge up.....

Banarcus, you have one sexy wagon mate!! 8-)

Love that colour, and the CSA prowlers suit it nicely. Sounds bloody mint too, nothing beats the sound of a worked V8. Im liking the idea of this in-car PC, ill be watching this build with interest :wink:
