Good work onthe bracket but I would like to see a strengthening rib welded in the longest part at the rear to stop the twisting and flex that will happen in everyday use.
It would be easy to weld one in.

I am happy to get something done, but I am doubtful it is needed.

The steel is 3mm thick and I had to use a lot of force and a baby sledge hammer to bend it into the shape it is in now.

I wouldn't have thought the forces acting on the throttle pedal from daily use would cause any twisting and flexing.

I will however acknowledge that I have now where near your experience when it comes to fabricating things.

Cheers
BenJ

Its not experience with fabricating things mate , its experience with breaking things..............lol.
Normally the things that break are what you would least expect and at the absolute worst time.
As you know I break a lot of stuff!

Matt's right Ben, it is amazing what will break when you don't want it to..... Bring it over when you are happy with everything and we will make it indestructable...... but why did you use Gal plate, I hate Gal plate... it stinks

Looking at it, it seems all it needs is a brace that runs from the pedal mount on the bracket to the firewall. A rod or similar would more than do the job. That will then form a triangle and should be well strong enough.

Hi Ben. Your work is looking good as usual. I know you are a member on AFF, so you may have seen this already : http://www.fordforums.com.au/showthread.php?t=11351861

This is another way to go about it, and for that price is a steal.

Hmmm, the problem with running it that way, not off the BA PCM, is that the variable cam function won't work.

Also you would need to use either an EF or AU to make use of the coil pack ignition, as there is no where for a dizzy to go in the block, which would be a rather large wiring change for the dizzy based cars.

The other problem that I foresee with not using the BA PCM, is that for an engine change to be legal it MUST use the original factory engine computer and emissions etc.

Still, not a bad solution for a cheap drag car etc.

Cheers
BenJ

Off Topic.

Does anyone in Sydney have an EA-EL sump pan not on an engine they may be willing to part with?

Need one for a fellow Fordmods member rather urgently.

Please PM me.

Cheers
BenJ

Cheers Buddy.

Sump problem has been resolved by removing one off the original engine out of the Wagon.
