Until they find out he lives in NSW, if the car remains registered in his name. Then they will want full roadworthy, Blue slip.

there is a way around it, if his mum writes a letter stating the car will spend most of the time in QLD then he can legally register it in QLD, i done it for a mate who shal remain nameless lol

Yes the car and my licence are with QLD even though I live in NSW technically but as I am situated on the boarder the majority of the cars here are actually registed in QLD. As for the rear wiper I am not sure of the legality of it but wanted it gone so its gone. When it went for its first roadworthy back in december last year the wiper didnt work and had a dodgey wiper blade on it as well as the washer for it not working and there was not a single thing said.

It may very well be illegal but who seriously thinks if I was pulled over that the authorities are going to be concerned with the wiper when there is a big hole in the bonnet, big body kit and loud exhaust. They will certainly get unwanted attention but inst that part of the point of modifing a car and in all honesty the car isnt exactly being driven in an area where the police target modified cars and I think in a town with 400 people and only 1 copperI dont think he will care.

OK, I have been searching through the ADRs on http://www.infrastructure.gov.au/roads/motor/design/adr_online.aspx but I can not find any reference to rear window wipers or washers.

In addition there is no reference on the RTA websites Vehicles Inspectors Bulletin page.

So as far as I can ascertain, the rear windscreen wiper washer is optional.

Anyone who can prove otherwise, please advise.

Cheers
BenJ

my brother used to have a charade, and there was 2 models, the aus version and the jap version, the jap had the rear wiper (obviously for snow) and the aus had none, if your car was fitted with the wiper system from factory then you MUST keep it on, thats what we were told when he bought the car.

I lived in NSW for 3 years with a QLD licence - I have an address that I keep there (yes, its mine).

Transfering to NSW would have lost my perpetual boat licence, and Jetski licence, and I would have had to pay far more for them. Not to mention that I like the QLD licences better - they dont look like prison cards :P

Same with the car - Kept it registered in QLD. I wasnt in NSW forever, and I knew that. When I got pulled over I was down in Sydney for work for a few months.

yea you wouldnt want to re regester your car in nsw,
as its not a matter of just transfering it.
your qld rego will be cancelled and your car will be classed as an unregestered vehicle, which means a full roadworthy and vehicle identity check, then you need a roadworthy inspection every 12 months..

better off keeping it regestered in qld..

I was told that if I was to register the car in NSW I would need to go see a engineer first so he can check what has been done eg: Bonnet, body kit, engine, gearbox, lighting. Then I have to go over the pits for those checks and then I can get rego. then every year I would have to go over the pits. I would loose the use of my plates and have to pay more for rego as I was told that there is no 6 month rego in NSW

I am paying my rego using the 6 months option. You still need to get a Pink Slip (mechanical safety check) once every year, but I pay the Green Slip and RTA once every six months. This halves the amount I need to find each time. This was only introduced beginning of 2009.

Cheers

Thanks for that Ben. It will remain registered in QLD for the time being as it is the easiest and cheapest solution which is a rare thing with this car as I just cant stop changing things on the dam thing. Maybe I should have just started with a chassis and build my own car. lol

This mod has seem to have stirred some people up but today I have the area where the wiper used to be a quick sand and a quick coat of paint so it now matches the rest of the tail gate. Looking at it now still not finished I doubt there is going to problems with this as the way it will look will not even click in peoples minds that it is different

Here are some newer pictures. For maybe 60 minutes total work time and almost no cost I think its a rather nice touch.

Must say that it does give a clean look bt have you thought how it will be with rain/dirt etc, especially on country roads. Having driven wagons I have found the washer/wiper to be a handy thing especially with the reverse set up when your wipers are on the rear activates when you select reverse. Also had a GSR Galant hatch, again with rear window wiper and found that to be an advantage, sometime I wish my Fairmont sedan had a rear wiper  . Anyway mater of personal taste, each to their own.

On the mater of NSW rego, YES stay with QLD if you can get away with it. NSW rego system sucks compared to some other states.
