Its not hard.

What you can do is spend $40 or whatever on the ecu downloader thing Jason sells and download your current tune then put that onto the chip.

Flash your ECU back to stock then put the chip in and the car will run identical to how it is now and will give you a base to start with.

Sorry Dan, this is still gobbldegook to me. I kind of know what you mean, but I'm too afraid I will root things up. The current setup I have now will not run on anything else other than the SCT tuner as it stands now. I think I will have to take the car back to Bruce who does both the SCT and J3 and get him to tune it first. If I had someone like yourself here in SA to show me how it all works, it would make a world of difference, but I will have to go with what I have available to me here.

What Im saying is that you can flash tune your supercharged tune onto the ECU.

Then use the ECU reader he sells to suck out the supercharged tune.

You can then use tunerpro to put that exact same tune onto a J3 chip to get you started.

The car will behave exactly as if it was flash tuned with your current tune then you can go from there making minor adjustments to suit your mods.

really??? Its that easy? geez, that does seem doable. Thats awesomely impressive. Do you think I need the same J3 kit you bought or can I get away with different options?

You definitely need the J3 chip and programmer which is $215. Add $40 for that eec reader or send your ECU to Jason to preprogram the chip with your supercharger tune and you can be on your way with the flash tuner sitting nicely in the bin.

Then if you want to tune it yourself you will need a wideband setup with datalogging.

I'm happy with the techedge stuff Jason sells but there are other options. I think Jason sells the techedge stuff cheaper than techedge once you factor in postage costs.

If you arent going to DIY tune it then you dont need the wideband gear.

Dont try tuning without a wideband.

I had an X3 before the chip and sold it to buy the J3 stuff and couldnt be happier with it.

geez that cost is less than half what SCT want for the X3. Its flamin worth doing. I can see that. Might get the eec reader and selector switch as well and still be in front, then its just the tuning time. Freaking sexual.

Got my bits back. The finish is pretty good. Hopefully it keeps the heat down like they say.

I broke my first motor last weekend. :(

Seems to be either a busted bearing or a bent rod. The valve train looks ok.

Picking up another motor on Monday to get it driveable.

Not sure whether to build a forged motor for this or get a BA as the next mod.

I also picked up a 3.45 LSD for $181. :D

Yeah disc to disc diff out of a 5L xls. He said it was reco'd last year and the 3.45's were fitted :D

He said the abs sensors have had the wiring cut and the hand brake cable is broken but Ill just use mine.

Lately I have been getting sick of the lokka because it doesnt feel nice to drive. It grips up good but the clunkiness was giving me the s**t.

I was looking for a motor on ebay last night and saw the diff at $166 with 10 minutes to go so put an offer in. :D

FTG autosalvage offered me a 3.23 ratio LSD for $900 a few months back.

I was thinking about getting an XR6T sedan. Put my turbo and gearbox into it and sell off the left overs.

Im still not 100% on it though. Maybe I want a 4wd in which case I'd likely keep the ute too. :|

What sort of money are you willing to throw into the purchase of an XR6T sedan, if you did decide to?

Probably somewhere around $15k if I do it.

There seems to be a lot available for around that price.

That's be nice. The cheapest BF on carsales is $17k. I guess with some haggling it would be doable.

I got the engine out of the ute yesterday in between bursts of rain.

Ill try to have it running again this weekend.

Yeah that was the only issue. The rest fits fine.

Got the engine fitted last night. Hoping to have the box and new diff in tonight then all the accessories done tomorrow.
