Unless you can get them for $100 for the lot or less, I'd just save up a little extra and get a set of kings. I only went with the SSL option ($260 all up for front and rear). It's not too low that you can can't get over s**t, but low enough to look very nice if you have a good set of 18's or 19's.

Hey Guys,

I've been looking at my options to lower the car now, since I have finally saved up some extra dough.

What height KING springs do you recommend/think I should get? I don't want to go too low, and I still do want a reasonable gap (just enough so it looks good) between the wheel and fender.

Any help is appreciated!

Thanks,
Dean

Mine were the SSL option from King springs, both front and rear. If you look at my pics, that the height it sits. You get about a thumb width of clearance between the rubber and the guard, which is plenty while still looking low. This is with 17's though, 18's and 19's will fill the guard even more (probably nearly flush with rubber and guard on 19's).

Thanks Kraze, just took a look and your car sure has come a long way! :D

You think the SSL option will be okay for my 18" rims? Like I don't want the tyre to touch the body at all, and have a reasonable gap.

I'm also thinking this (stage 2) looks pretty good

Still worried/not sure though.

Also, conflicted about whether I should upgrade the shocks whilst I'm at it?

Thanks,
Dean

Definitely do the shocks while you're at it. My mate josh (fordaute) has 18's on his, and his is a tiny bit lower in the rear than mine, and his doesn't touch at all. Fills the guards quite nicely actually.

Yeah I'll defs do the shocks then too.

I've been doing measurements and stuff, I think I will either go with SL or SSL. The stage 2 which I linked above I like, it's quite similar to the measurements wolfiekun gave me of his G6E.

Now currently searching around for prices - where do you recommend for purchase and fitting?

~Will be happening soon, looking forward to it :D

Fitting? Save yourself $300 as that's what most places will charge to install, and just do the work yourself.

And ebay is your best friend for getting parts. For springs and shocks you'll be looking at about $750-$800 total.

Will take you about 2 hours to install the whole lot if you know how to pull springs and shocks out, if not then double that time :P

Yeah true, but I don't know, it'll take me forever and I don't trust myself doing something like that.

Will most likely just get them off ebay then haha

Getting towbar removed on Wednesday too. Bradley4567, did you still want my towbar? It's a hayman reese towbar?

It's really not that hard man. Just need spring compressors, a big shifter (for the shocks and struts, they require a fair chunk of effort to undo), assortment of different sized sockets and a jack (2 jacks is good for the front struts as you can can jack up the control arm to push the strut into place rather than trying to manually compress it by hand).

That's another problem - I've only got a shifter and a jack :|

Got a mate with tools? Employ his services for a few hours and also get him to help out lol
If you really need, I can take pics tomorrow of what you need to undo and the nut/bolt sizes etc.
In all honesty, when I did mine the first time round it took 2-3 hours in total, and that was winging my way through it.
