I’ve been meaning to start a Garage thread for a while.

I not a huge ford fan but I’ve pretty much had one in my garage continuously for the more than 10 years. Scary thing is I still own all but one of the cars listed below.

95 EF Falcon Gli:

I got this nearly 10 years ago. At the time of purchase it was a stock as EF Gli. It wasn’t cool, it wasn’t desirable but it was functional and would get me to work and back ok. The two pics below aren't my car but it was a dead ringer for it while it was totally stock.

After a year or I wanted something different so picked up a few parts for it:

• Genuine EL Tickford bodykit
• 17” Roh RT wheels
• Complete EF XR6 interior
• EL Fairmont front (headlights, bumper & grille)
• EL Fairmont chrome number plate surround and rear garnish
• Extractors and K & N panel filter

Somewhere along the way I brought a complete EF GLi for parts as well.
It transformed the look of the car and I decided to leave it alone and start a new project.

After I bought the V8 mentioned further down I had a few bits taken off it so it looks like this now:

1982 XE Falcon GL:

My brother and I put together this XE Falcon sedan. I won’t go into detail about the rebuild of the car but here are the specs:

• 3.3L
• Converted to EFI (Factory 4.1 EFI)
• Converted to 5 speed manual
• Converted to bucket seats
• XF LSD diff and disc brakes
• Turbo charged (WRX turbo)
• Front mount Intercooler
• AU XR8 17” wheels (with hub adaptors)
• Reset superlow springs and HD swaybars
• Electric thermo fan conversion
• 2.5” custom made mandrel bent exhaust system

The car Dyno’d at 96.1 RWKW prior to being turbocharged. That may not sound like much but you have to consider 3.3 Litre falcons were only 70 Kw at the flywheel in factory trim.

I still own the XE and the white EF but left them in storage when I headed over seas

1997 EL Fairmont Ghia:

I spent a year in Perth and while there I had this EL Ghia for a while. It was a nice car with full leather and a Cat back exhaust system. I sold it before moving to wellington for a year

Image
Image

While in Wellington I didn’t have anything to do with cars and didn’t even have a car while I was there.

95 EF Fairmont V8 :

I somehow managed to pick up a EF Fairmont V8 a week before I headed to Canada. It had been stolen and recovered and was not a pretty sight. The stereo was gone and most of the interior plastic around the stereo area were broken or missing. The passengers door had been folded round and the door strap broken. Every panel had been keyed and its 17” wheels were gone.

So far I’ve added"

• EL Tickford body kit
• 16” Tickford wheels
• EL Number plate surround
• EL XR8 extractors
• RAGE 3” Mandrel bent exhaust system
• Lowered
• Full respray
• EL Fairmont Ghia doortrims and interior woodgrain.

Heres what it looks like currently, still needs a bit of work and few parts swapped over.

96 EF XR6:

I picked this up a few weeks ago. I not sure what I will do with it yet. It’s missing an indicator and has a slightly damaged front bar. I have enough parts to fix it up and will be back in NZ for a month or so and may show it some TLC. Offically it’s status is TBA.

2003 Ford Focus wagon:

I needed a car in Canada so picked up this to cart my bike round in and do a few trips away in. It’s been good but doesn’t appeal to me much… its quite ugly.

I plan to have a cull in a about a month’s time and hope to get rid of most of them as all the falcons are back in NZ and I now live in Canada.

The cull has started... I just sold the little Focus wagon. Sold it for more than i paid for it which is always a bonus.

Only 5 EF falcons and fairmonts to sell and I'ill be down to one car. Sweet

The V8 Fairmont is in getting serviced and having a couple of bolt on parts fitted finally.

Jeez mate, quite a stable of Ford's you've had over the years hey!! :P

Especially like the EL Ghia you had, looks very classy. XE turbo looks awesome too. The Fairmont V8 definitely has some potential 8-)

Thanks Nathan, I really liked the blue EL Ghia too; it was a sad day when I sold it.

I will get some better photos of the all 5 EF's before I list them all on Trademe. I've got a lot of work ahead of me once I get back to NZ.

I'll give you a heads up of what parts I have for sale prior to listing them on Trademe. As mentioned earlier I may still wreck out the XR6 as the plates are dead.

I got a bit of work done to a couple of the cars the first week i was back in NZ

I have the white EF ready for sale and the V8 Fairmont almost finished; just need to fix the exhaust, service the trans and replace the front struts.

I can't be f**k repairing the XR6 so it will be sold as wreck along with the 6 cyl Fairmont and the old EF Gli

Damn! that certainly is quite a collection! I love the colour of that Fairmont, sparkling burgundy is it?

What sort of price are you asking for the xr6 wreck? I'm currently fixing up a TX3 Laser to be sold, so definitely keen on another fixer upper. If you are parting out any of the V8's, I'm after a engine.

Any plans for the one Falcon you are keeping?

yip the V8 Fairmont is Bordeaux, It's a great colour not to own as it's so much work to keep looking good.

I've decided not to keep any of the cars as I just don't have any where to keep them and plan to return to Canada again shortly

I've already got a few offers on the XR6 but I'm not selling any of the cars until the v8 is finished

Or less

That reminds me Ash; I'll give you Dave's contact details so you can follow up re the mustangs your hunting.

A lot of work has been done to the V8 Fairmont in the last week:

Power steer was fixed while I was away, threw on a new 3" Rage big bore exhaust as the old one was poked. Sorted out the small issues causing the central locking to cycle and not lock.

Took if for a test drive yesterday and wasn't happy with the diff noise so did a diff swap late last night and now the car is in for a auto trans service.

This car has really tested my patience but its almost done.

I still don't know it's never been back on the dyno since the turbo was fitted.

The transmission service in the V8 Fairmont today was a big fail, bits of the clutch bands and metal flakes lined the bottom of the pan. The transmission is toast; they were amazed the car still moved.

I'm a bit gutted about that, wouldn't of been so bad if it was me that destroyed it or the diff but this car is seriously testing my patience.

I'll pull the trans out in a couple of days and get dad to strip it down and see what (if anything) can be salvaged.
