Hahaha yeah... naa. She's camera shy

Small update:
Car still running like s**t, idles terribly rough like i've got a lumpy cam and stalls on first start, i have no idea what the problem is and tbh, at the moment i can't be a*** looking at it!

Anyway, I've decided to take a break from uni, and have hopefully landed a 6 day a week job, so within the next few weeks/months i will be beginning a new project for the LTD!

First up i will be sourcing a 5.0 block and building a 331 stroker, then adding twin turbos to it and a 6 speed tremec.

Another option is buying a Ford Racing 5.0 GT40 crate motor, can get them for $7600 here in NZ at the moment, so it comes complete longblock 340hp minus the intake and distributor. Has all the goodies like cam, GT40X heads, roller rockers etc. If i go this way, i will still get the tremec 6 speed, but will add a BBK SSI intake and twin turbo.

Still in the very early stages yet so a lot more planning to come!

Yeah, that was my initial thoughts too. It went from :o  :? :D 8-)

For now, i have settled on a rough plan, source a block, 331 stroker kit, Trickflow "Track Heat" top end kit which consists of heads, intake, cam, rockers, pushrods, gaskets, bolts etc and fit up a Mal Wood T56 kit, tune. Once that is done and my piggy bank has recovered, i will then begin the turbo phase.

I'm tired of throwing money at the engine just to keep it maintained and running properly, which it never does to be honest, so i thought f**k it, why not go all out and spend it on something decent.

I'm equipped with a mechanic for a father, all the tools i could ever need (in his garage), and plenty of mechanical contacts such as parts suppliers and engine builders/reconditioners. The only thing missing for the time being is the money flow, but that's about to change :P

LOL, the above quote is pretty much the exact same position I'm in... Except even though I'm working fulltime, my money flow doesn't last too long at all

I'm loving the sounds of those plans for the LTD mate, can't wait to see it all progress. The stroked twin-turbo'd route sounds like a winner!! A dude up here in Auckland had a EF Fairmont 331 stroker with a T04z hanging off it which was pretty epic

That GT40 crate motor isn't a bad option either, its a pretty sexy looking thing too. The local speed shop up here have one in their showroom (about the same price tag too from memory), I pretty much drool everytime I see it along with the 550hp 460ci Cobra Jet motor sitting next to it. Now, if only I had the money..

Sucks to hear that your issues with the LTD idling. Have you tried changing back to the injectors you had previously? After seeing those clips in your other thread, it definitely sounded like you had a massive agro cam in that thing

Cars aye mate! Do you have a woman? Luckily mine isn't too demanding in the money department, the odd present every now and then keeps the rage at bay  I think i have seen the car you are talking about? Is it White? It's on you tube and i mess up my keyboard every time i see it. Looks and sounds AWESOME. I want to know what his wheels are too as they look mean.

That Gt40 crate motor you have seen is probably the shop that's in Petrol Head magazine (which is where i spotted the price), I'm seriously eying it up as it would save a lot of hassle, just sort out an intake and tune, done. But i think i'll stick with building, I've been talking to Tom from AMP Performance in the states and i can get the full Trickflow top end kit landed at my door for about $3800 which i reckon is pretty damn good, and i'm pretty sure i could sort out a block with rotating assembly for less than $3k

Yeah the idling is pissing me off, and it stutters a bit while driving down the road, like if cruising at 50k it will jerk a bit until more pedal is put down. I have a feeling those injectors i put in may have been a bit dirty, the spray disk is quite small so it wouldn't take much for a particle of crap to get lodged in there, so i'll wait until a new gasket from eBay arrives and i'll whip them out to send them away for a clean etc. If only the performance matched the sound lol.

You should totally stick that cobra jet motor in your EF 8-) 8-)

Nope, I dont have a missus at the moment, thank God. I'd be one very broke dude if I did I reckon. In between working and slowly modding the EF, one night stands are where it's at for me lol

Yep, that would be the one. It's one insane e-series Ford. V8's and boost go soooo well together

Was that GT40 motor advertised by STA Parts? Thats the place where I saw it. They usually have their ad's in the PetrolHead mag's as they stock a lot of Ford Racing stuff. I'd actually love to put that GT40 motor in the EF if I had the time and money, I really have to get myself a 5.0 soon

Lucky, it sure is one fast track to poverty, i swear they suck more $$ than any fuel or parts company ever could, and it's not even big s**t, just little things like "dinner". I dunno about you mate, but dinner for me is two BBQ Rodeo burgers from BK and a coke

Yep that's the place, the huge double page split near the middle of the mag. Mate, just do it lol, loan the money, think later :D

Well, I've compiled a small list of options. I've scrapped the stroker route for now as i basically can't afford it, i probably won't be able to afford to finish whatever way i go this year as the mrs keeps nagging me to get a house. But my options are:

Option one:
Trickflow Track Heat kit (Heads, Cam, Intake)
Two T3 Super T70 turbo's

Option two:
AFR 165 Heads
Comp Cams XE282HR cam
BBK SSI-R Intake Manifold
Two T3 Super T70 Turbo's

Option three:
Ford Racing 302 Boss Crate Motor (all forged internals, GT40X heads etc)
BBK SSI-R Intake Manifold
BBK 80mm TB
Two T3 Super T70 Turbo's

I'm leaning more towards option three as the engine is brand new, all forged and basically boost prepped. My wallet will most likely lean towards option two. And option one is just about off the cards as I've been told the trickflow twisted wedge heads have complications with stock pistons due to valve angle.

Option two's components came from a guy on another forum who has an ED XR8, stock block and internals, the the XE282HR cam, AFR heads, and edelbrock copy intake, with the two T70 eBay turbo's and he's making 478rwhp on6psi and on 14psi with a best 1/4mile pass of 9.86

He only blew up his block cause he wound the boost up too high for the stock block, 14psi.

Damn, that much power from option 2? Sounds like it's good HP for $$ value man.

Cheers

Right. Turbo route is no longer a happening thing.... for now anyway.

I could afford the engine kit and turbos, but the Transmission is where i get held up. I just can't afford to buy a TKO or T56 at this point in time, so for now i'm going the revised route.

Trick Flow twisted wedge heads
Trick Flow Stage 1 Cam
Trick Flow Track Heat intake manifolds

My new injectors arrived on my doorstep today, they are brand new 24lb flow matched injectors from Ford Racing, M-9593-AA302. Got them for a pretty decent price. Also received some NOS Ford Motorsport lead holders and a new Ford Racing shift knob which looks s**t hot, gear stick is getting whittled down to suit the smaller thread.

Mounted up my gauges on the A pillar, although there is bugger all room to mount them there and the panel is quite flimsy and can't sustain the weight too well, will probably just move them to the dash sometime soon.

Arriving early next week should be my shipment from summit containing two Magnaflow 2.5" "Magnapack" 6"x14" round mufflers, a Magnaflow 2.5" x-pipe and a new throttle position sensor. I had already bought other mufflers but they were 2.25" and the wrong style for me, so i have sold them to a friend and bought these instead. Hopefully will have them installed by the end of next week or the week after in a full stainless mandrel system.

Once i sell my TX3 Laser that's sitting here, i will be ordering the Trick Flow kit.

In the meantime my shopping list consists of:

Walbro 190 pump
Adjustable fuel regulator
TwEEcer FX
Autometer WideBand O2 pack

Have also just purchases 3 quarts of Royal Purple MAX ATF for the T5, cost me a bomb but hopefully it's better than the Transmax. The T5 shifts great when cold, but makes a bit of noise when hot and gets hard to shift gears, also catches on 3rd up shift sometimes when hot too.

http://www.royalpurple.com/transmission-fluid.html .... Huh? Where have you heard this is the best thing since sliced bread for your T5? No doubt you've researched it good and proper, but please pass on the goods....

XTAXI says "Royal Purple engine oil is good, but I wouldn't touch their gear oils for s**t" or something similar. And he's the man!

Have you tried adding any Lubrizol to the mix matey? Click FOR SALE and then click BUY NOW in my signature.

I've been reading a lot of the Mustang forums, and the Stang fellas recommend the stuff in the T5Z's, something to do with them having different synchro rings/block rings than normal T5's.

I had Transmax Z in there, which is basically all lubrizol, worked ok, but when hot i think it tended to thin out FAR too much, even when stone cold it was thinner than water.

I also picked up another piece of my puzzle today, a 70mm Tickford TB. I'm going to mask off the machined tickford area, and spray the rest with crinkle finish black paint to match the Trick Flow intake. Should look tops.

Well, i got my exhaust installed over the weekend, and i couldn't be happier with the sound. Sounds amazing! Has a nice deep rumble on idle and a real bark anywhere from idle. No drone or horrible noise, just pure sex!

Has dual 2.5" piping, a Magnaflow Tru-X Xpipe, two Magnaflow 6" round straight through mufflers, and mandrel bent diff section. The x-pipe to mufflers part of the piping is slightly press bent as it wasn't worth spending $40 a bend just to have it bent slightly as the bends aren't bent much at all. The gloss black paint makes the tubing look more bent than it is.

I'm still waiting on the tips to be installed as no where in town could supply two 2.5" stainless tips, and the factory that usually supplies them is in Christchurch so probably won't be supplying parts for a while yet due to the earthquake. Once i get the tips, the pipes will be dropped slightly to fit the tips.

I'll be getting the bumper made so that the bottom lip runs under the tips.

Check back soon for some video. Just have to work out how to compress my videos so that photobucket will upload them, i took the vids with my video camera instead of my phone so the size is quite large.
