Picked up the XD yesterday with the help of XD VAN 82.

There were a couple of problems, like towing the trailer away from the hire place without unlocking it and dragging the trailer being hired and another car trailer out, it also broke a padlock.

There were also a lot of problems with the trailer:

Winch cable was too short, wouldn't even reach the end of the trailer
One of the trailer brake lights was damaged, we were pulled over by the police for it too
Winch handle was bent and scrapped on the housing
There was no jockey wheel and the mount for it was bent
The winch cable was pretty frayed and sharp

Anyways, it got the job done I guess.

We also had trouble moving the car (towed it with my AU) with the trailer and the XD on it off the paddock from the guy I bought it from. He eventually towed the trailer with the XD on it and my AU off to the driveway :P

There was a bit too much throttle applied in my AU while the tractor moved the cars and trailer out, some wheel spin occurred and some mud splatter happened, that's all we know..

Here's some pics of it in a petrol station:

I'll take some more in the daylight tomorrow when the old thing gets pulled to pieces.

It also has some lowered springs and reset leaves, so Brads going to take those, as well as the front end too.

The mags that came on it are okay looking, so I'll keep those for my XC until it's done. Save the hotwires from getting damaged maybe.

The tail lights are in good condition too, it also has a chrome auto tbar, the really cool ones.

But the passenger handle is broken, so that won't help my XF out much.

Also, it's a factory 302, so it'll have a C4 box, I know that 351's had a 9" LSD standard with them, so I'm hoping the 302's had a LSD too, even though it isn't a 9" :(

It's a shame it's going to be wrecked really, if there was someone keen in the state to restore it it would be awesome, not many factory V8 black XD panels vans would have been made, even less would still be arround now..

Also, Brad, don't forget to get the key lock from the spare wheel door. The key that fits it should be in the car too.

seeing how the pics are all on my phone ill let you all know what me and luke got up to yesterday and today.

yesterday saw the removal of the front panels, mirrors, passenger side door, and got the engine ready for removal and a fair bit more. we spent a fair bit of time going over the car and having a look at it and stuff it was rustier then we thought.

today, cut the rad support out, removed engine and transmission, removed front springs and shocks, exhaust and started removing lowerd rear leafs, 1 last bolt on each is being a prick  main things left to do now is either try get the rear leafs out or put them back in , we were going to swap them with the ones in my ute but if no luck we will put them back

onto the best part the pictures.

some pictures of the rust as in the photos above it looks like were idiots wrecking a pretty good van. to fix it you would spend many hours cutting all the rust out of it or lots of time searching for decent panels the front end was pretty good but the sills were rooted doors were ok 1/4 panels were rusty down the bottom and rear doors are shagged.

Wow it looks really rusty when you look at the pics haha.

Ta for putting them up.

Also, i've spatted a set of four charcoal leather and woodgrain door cards for my AU on ebay, $100. If shipping isn't too much I might be able to grab them.

Also there's a series 2/3 high type cluster, starting at $60. Apparently it's brand new and has 0 kays..

door cards sound like a good price.....but $60 for a cluster with 0 kays  youd be able to sell your au later on as a very low k car

Yeah, that cluster is now $140, with nearly 6 days remaining

I'm going to try and squeeze a bit of stuff in on my only day off this week:

Chuck the ssl springs in my AU to see how low it is and get an idea of how the leaves will need to be reset

Take the diff and drive shaft out of the XD (only two handbrake cables left)

Remove fuel tank, van door glass, door glass, hinges, engine mounts, brake booster, calipers, windows trims, engine bay wiring, most of the dash and wiring

And anything else of value

I'll also try and grab the steering box and the mags when it's moved out the front ready for scrap.

I'll be happy to get all that done in a day..

But I want to leave some time to have a look at the AU's front while the wheels and springs are off, it's been squeaky since I've had it, but now it's started a very very small vibration when braking at highway speeds down a steep hill.

I want to have a look to see which bushes need replacement, and I know the brake pads are near metal too.. If I can't grab a set by Wednesday then I'll at least know what state they are in and also take my trolley jack back home with me so I can do them after work during the weekend.

Speaking of which, I parked my XF with the drivers side on the curb after work on Friday, I was going to swap the drivers seat with the FD one, a couple of minutes later I remembered I had left all my tools in my mums garage

Anyways, another heap of text

Well I don't want to let much go to waste like the other cars I've wrecked. A lot of good and rare parts were still in them.

I intend to give stuff away as much as possible, I'm sure someone would want a free XD dash, and whatever else.

Do you want some rust?

That way you can make a start making your ute look as good as mine
