Are we talking about the 2 buttons running off the brake pedal?

One has 2 black wires and the other has 3 green with different stripes.

Troy man said you dont need to do any resistor tricks to start the car with an Auto ecu,

The EB ghia has no ECU or Auto wiring loom mods how the fu#k did it run is what is annoying me.

I don't know about that one man, if the ECU is a smartlock one with inbuilt auto control, if it doesn't know the auto is in neutral or park, it shouldn't start!

Unplug the brake switch altogether & then see what happens. Do you have another switch to test, to see if the switch has become faulty? They do fail.

I've had some starting issues recently, the brake fail light comes on, and i hear some clicking of relays behind the dash, but no action from the starter motor. I think the little wire that goes to the starter motor with the slip on connector has come off.....

Cheers

with an auto set up, the neutral inhibitor wires are seperate to the gear position switch wires,
the 2 inhibitor wires just need to be joined together(in a manual box loom they are already joined)
the gear position resistor is for the in gear idle curcuit(these wires are in the round loom plug), if the ecu does not see a voltage signal throught a resistor , the ecu thinks the car is in gear, bumping the idle up.
thats all it does...

I got some more fuses from work today.

When i go to start it the brake fail light is now coming on. I think it is the fuel pump that is still coming on but it sounds a lot different, deeper.

There's a few things i have noticed,

There seems to be and al round lack of power getting to things like the horn, head lights, dash lights. The smart lock light is on as normal and goes out once i turn the key. I don't think i have blown the ECU..... well hope i havn't. The aircon will not change vents from off the windscreen, and when its put on boost fan speed it turns off but the 1,2,3 speeds work. Radio has no power at any key position. All this even when all dash fuses are fine. Except the windscreen wipers don't seem to be earthed? the power end of the fuse is fine but is not earthed, i tried several fuses here.

I have a EL ecu sitting here anyways because the guys from TI performance recommend them when using a J3. Im not sure if i am able to plug the EL auto ECU straight in now and it will run normal because i am not using a BBM.

I pulled the dash forward and looked at all connections and could not find any damaged or even loose earth wires or plugs. I pulled out the cluster clock/aircon facia and stereo surround and still could not find anything odd looking.

So do i need to do a resistor trick to the round plug from the auto loom?? I have the resistors, spare auto loom sitting here ready to go.

Tomorrow im going to change each of the larger fuses under the bonnet one at a time and see what makes a difference. Could there be a problem with my red BEM??

Regards.

What do you mean check if its the same way?

Its 100% connected right, positive and negative.

Is it not a good idea for me to disconnect it each night, i dont what to drain a perfectly good battery

Cheers.

normally the brake fail light comes on when you crank the engine,

the aircon/heater wont change vents as there is no engine vacuum as its not running..

silly question,,, are you sure your battery is not flat????

well when i bought my old EB we rocked up at the guys house as they were charging the battery and had it sitting in there and then connected it, and it done the weird things you mentioned, fan tuned on no matter what setting, dash lights came on, wipers didnt work, front indicator (passenger) stayed on.

just thought it was worth a try to double check. did you undo the wires off the terminals or just remove the terminal as its also easy to mix them up too.

Yep it comes on when i try crank it,

right so i wont worry about the aircon rofl.

Well the battery in the car was rooted from sitting and wouldn't recharge.

I am using the one from the ghia which shows is holding charge on a volt meter.

I just took the terminals straight off as its much easier as you can imagin.

Are there any earth wires connected to the pedal box bolts?? i know there is one right in the middle of the dash. I am willing to pull the dash back out to check these earth connection but i need to know where to look other wise i feel its a waste of time. My Gregory isn't showing much unfortunately.

Ill do all the running(walking) i need to get this thing going, my sister will need her vitara back once she gets her licence!

Do you mean the earth that runs off the screw that holds the ecu bracket in place? I can only see that one and the one up top in centre, which isn't behind the dash just on top.

Could my BEM be damaged?

it is possible. give the dash a good kick about left knee height just to the right of the headunit and above the hand brake, and see if it helps.

we had that issue in our EF where the old owner opened it up and fiddled with it. it played havoc with the airbag, water level (no sensor on the bottle) and a few other weird things

You could have just said give the dash a kick just infront of where the BEM sits

There are 4 of the larger fuses under the coolant bottle one has no fuse in it, just about to check the greg to see if it tells me what its for.
