Thermo's aren't hard to do, go for a trip to see Bill, he will sell you a set of EF thermo's for $50, + $70 for a Davies Craig Switch Set, and about $50 for extra cable, relays etc and just follow the tech doco.

Besides, you have to remove the clutch fan to remove the fan shroud to remove your water pump pulley and crank shaft pulley.......so just easier to access once you have removed all of the above.....no point putting the s**t clutch fan and shroud back on after going to all the trouble of getting them off.....if you follow my ramblings :P

Nope

$50 is cheap for a set of thermo's, unless you can find a set at the wreckers cheaper.

I paid $69 for my Davies Craig Set from supercheap, shop around and you might find them cheaper elsewhere, but I doubt it.

$50 for cable and relays was a rough guestimate :P . You will however need 2 x 5 pin 30amp relays - approx $10 - $15 each + a roll of at least 25Amp rated wire + connectors, heat shrink, soldering iron, electrical tape, etc, etc etc.

Oh! and don't forget the silicon

As for the underdrives - Expect to pay anywhere between $200 - $300 for the set new. I was lucky and picked up a set of Mustang style race series for $80 second hand, I just had to get a mate to machine the water pump pulley to get them to fit the aussie 5.0L water pump - cost me nothing :D

Good luck with it mate - but don't take short cuts or skimp on materials - not worth damaging your motor from overheating just to save a few $$$.

Cheers,

Mick

If I were you, I would ask Bill if he could supervise the installation at his place when you pick up the thermo's. He probably can't install them for you, but he would be there to guide you all the way. Should only take a couple of hours.....and he did write the tech Doco on it. Get the rest of the gear you need and who knows, I may even come for a drive down to help out

Yeah! I have to remember the threads I posted in this morning, because they were all removed from my watched topics when I posted.....but that has been fixed now apparently :)

All ready for the Australia day muscle car cruise and drag day tomorrow at WSID! Also picked up my latest addition to the Ford family on Saturday, gave her a wash and she scrubs up pretty good. Now I just need to put in a new transmission and fix the leaking head gasket and it'll be off to the mechanics for a pink slip.
Will be selling the Blue monty soon with rego till July if anybody is interested, it'll be going cheap
The two Lane's meet for the first time

The Lane all dressed for the big day out tomorrow

and the main reason I bought her! The wood will be in the NC very soon :D

Maybe not all of the wood, I'll do it a piece at a time and will see how it pans out!

Cheers,
Mick
