Thanks mate,
I was going to put them back on, but the EA got stolen a few weeks back, and that means the Ghia wheels went too. I was wrecked for a bit there... they had new tyres on all four corners too... oh well,

shiz mate sorry to hear about that, happens at the worst of times. hope she turns up somewhere...
But yea, ghia rims usually turn up cheap on ebay so you mite be able to find a good set there. Another set of rims you could go for are el gt's in silver. They'd set off very nicely on your car.

Yeah, I love the EL GTs. You can get the aftermarket ones, that are 8" wide I think, whereas the stock ones where 8.5" wide.
Just money restricts me, as with anything.
Cheers,

It does look good man,
I dont mind it at all,
but because Im a Fordmodder, leaving things stock eventually eats away at me.
Like nailpolish remover on the back of EF Gauge needles.

haha,
Cheers.

Got my green T5 SMDLEDs from Futuraclassic today, for my dash etc.
Big reps for him, they are nice and bright and arrived really quick.
His site is http://autoillumination.vpweb.com.au/. He's the cheapest in AUS, and they work really well.
I also painted the black dial surround and put on my custom dial faces with clear EF needles.

After:

Will upload pictures of the green dash lighting later tonight.
I have a feeling I'll be putting the stock dial faces back on.
If so, I'll pop down to the local printing place and see what they can do for me, maybe a thin plastic similar to that of the OEM dial faces.

Cheers,

The SMDLEDs are that bright that they shine through the paper and create a big spread of light in the cluster.

I'll be heading down to the local printing shop first thing tomorrow morning. See if they can make something up for me. The bloke that owns the shop also has a EL GT mock up, so I wonder what his reaction will be to the custom dials...

Cheers,

Keep up the good work Russ, its the little things that have made it just that little bit better!! Could there be some not so ricey chrome wheels on the cards or what?? Show wheels would do a nice set to suit.

Cheers, Justin

I'd love some nice looking wheels man,
but I'm stripped for cash as it is now.
I really want some EL GTs or some E-Series offset FPVs.
Or some REALLY old school deep dish mag wheels.
A set of simmons wheels or something.
Or centreline. :P
We'll see once I start up work again,

Went down to the printing joint,
and as I thought, I was down there for about an hour talking to him about Fordmods and what he has done to his Futura/EL GT mock up.
Apparently he's been a member on Fordmods since it was Email based. I didnt get his username but he knows most of the guys. SWC, Terrorist, Fordfreak etc. Small world, aye?
He gave me some thin green transparent plastic A4 sheets that I'm going to try and use as a backing for the dials,
Might have to graft them on somehow.
Either that or just print out the same picture dial cluster twice and paste it on the back,
and see how it all goes.

But today I'm leaving the car alone, as I'm heading to Botany to pick up some BA XR6 wheels for "I_Love_My_Fords" AU XL Ute.

Cheers,
Russ.

Nice Fairmont mate! It's definitely coming along nicely. Reminds me a lot of mine when I first started off in the modding scene, it's good because there's so many mods you can do with the e-series Fords

Keep up the good work!

Cheers Kwik,
yeah Im pretty happy that the E-series has such a massive modding community.
And if you don't know something, you can usually just ask the forum.

Put the stock dial faces back in today.
I'll upload a picture of what the dash looks like now,
or until I get around to layering the custom dials with a black backing to try and filter out some of the green LED light.

the green dash turned out good. But you have have the same problem as i do . The volts and oil needles arent as bright as the other needles.
Ive tried many leds and none have made them any brighter.
I just put up with it

Use a a*** sandpaper and gently sand the ends of the leds. It helps them disperse the light more evenly. Works well, I used a set once, sanded the ends and it spread the light perfectly.

ive tried that before with other leds but they werent as bright as the ones i have now.
I have 12000 mcd blue leds. They are the dome type.

But sanding obviously wont work with smd led. which is what REW93N has

ill sand the tops of the ones i have now . As they are long and i had to file a groove in the perspect so they could fit in.
They light up a nice dark blue . Other leds are a dull aqua blue
