Wonder if your D to R problem is stall converter related. Hope not. Car looks good as man but goddamit, you gotta fix up the front bar. Nothing a few zip ties cant fix aye :D

Yeah possibly or you didn't by any chance fit spacer to mount the wheels? as they've been know to use a different thread, as a reult causing above problem.

was just looking at my car and noticed 1 of the wheel nuts was missing... so i went over all of them... the average wheel had 2 holding and the rest were loose (now that scares the f**k outta me) ive tightened them all and will keep an eye out, could possibly have been the knock i was getting

was this on the back? i had a mate's car do the same after changing from a standard diff to a 9" something to do with the thread on the lug's...the nut's kept self loosening!

they still havent undone so hopefully this isnt a re-occuring problem

UPDATE!!

hands up if u hate ur car.... *ringa's hand raises without hesitation*

i think ive done an auxilary shaft, Symptoms:

car starts and idles ok, once revs raised above 2500 coughs, f@rt, poo's a little and then timing needs to be adjusted at dizzy (why didnt i go coil pack)

can any1 confirm the diagnosis or possibly convince me its something else please

i cbf working on it anymore so ill be sending it to a mechanic where they will probably charge me a million dollars and f**k up paintwork and engine bay detailing *cry's a little*

Woh woh woh, lets not go nuts....

Pull your dizzy out and have a gander at the shaft, and the gear on the dizzy, then compare top the pics in troymans thread, in the 6 cyl forum. While it may be that, it could be simpler.

UPDATE:

I've been driving the past 2 days and ive confronted a couple of problems:

1. car idles at around 800rpm but once driving the idle will hold at about 1200rpm, wich makes it hard to stop the car (braking distance increased) and even bigger problem is when i go from drive to reverse it crunches big time Question is how can this be fixed (if it can be fixed)

2. the car has a knock and i cant work out where its coming from, it almost sounds like a diff knock and at first i thought maybe pinion agle, but the knock is intermittent and sometimes starts when im braking and sometimes stops when im braking ???

possible causes to THIS lot of problems:

1: high idle - you havent run the engine in a long time and you have had the battery disconnected yes?, my guess would be the comp is in test mode, figuring out what is what, my old EA use to do it because i use to have the battery out all the time, the fix i was told is to find a quiet road and go flat out for an hour (talking 120kph+) use to work for my old fal.

2: crunch when going D --> R: hmmmm try coming to a complete stop before engaging reverese slowing right down is not the same thing

btw sweeeeet wagon mate!

ringastinga,

Where did you get your seat spacers made? I am looking at putting EL seats in my ED and today discovered they are different - DOH!

Cheers
