Did the utes find a new home?

Yeah its growing on me slowly. Need to get some more piccies of it.
Unfortunately yeah the utes found a new home. Pretty dissapointed about it all but well at least now I can walk up my driveway without tripping over.
Just have to buy myself a box trailer now.

M&W motor trimming in Peachtree Rd near my joint. He has done heaps for me over the years and is great. Ask for Jim.
Let me know when your available to bring it out and we can line it up.

Well well I made a huge muff up tonight.
Went for a little cruise out to Richnmond with Donna to get some dinner and watch the planes at the RAAF base. Had a good time as always.
When we left I chucked Don the keys to the boat and said she could drive home.
Well after 10 minutes and a bit of urging on my part , we were flat to the floor and having a ball.(It was most likely only slightly faster then walking pace in the boat but the V8 does sound good when getting its neck wrung).
Got back home and I asked Donna what she thought of it.
With a little smirk and a gleam in her eye she replied "Me like............"
Where is the problem you may ask?
I STILL HAVE NOT GOT THE KEYS BACK!

Dont know if MY car will be coming back to me or if it has been donated to a worthy cause..........I can see if I want my car back it is getting time to add another Ford V8 to the stable.

Well things have changed around here big time in the last couple of days.
Yesterday afternoon Donna bought herself a rather tidy EL XR8. It was factory bog stock , but did have the 16" FTR's on it.
Well while doing the usual "bought a new car" servicing things ( oil change , filters changed , general nut and bolt tightness check and a new set of brake pads) today I decided that the 17" AUII's on the boat would look much nicer on the XR8 so I swapped them over for a look.
Then I decided the nice new grey XR wheel on the boat would look better on the XR instead of the original black one.
Luckily Donna come home and loved the look of it all.
So it has been decided that the lane will be dying in the next week or so. It will be donating its reconditioned auto to the XR8 as the one in it is a little tired , the big sway bars will be going over but Im not allowed to lower it anymore then it is standard. So the Bilstein shocks etc wont be making the swap over.
Also choice bits of the Ghia interior will be making their way onto the XR. It will get the Ghia door cards and chrome handles , padded armrests , woodgrain , carpeted kick panels etc. Eventually I plan to fit the climate control and trip computer in as well. So essentially the XR8 will be something similar to an XR8 Ghia. All the stereo gear out of the boat will be making its way into the XR as well.
The motor will be going into another ute when I find one. Donna has handed me the 4 runner as a trade and told me to go off tomorrow and see if I can find myself a XH to screw together.
I did plan on keeping the runner and building it up for touring duties and selling the Mav but we have worked out it will be much cheaper to change a bit of the Mav around to suit touring duties more then to build another truck.
So by tomorrow afternoon the Lane will be in the backyard about to start being undressed and hopefully I will have a new ute.
I will be making a for sale thread once the car is in its final resting place and the rego is cancelled. It will definately happen this time as Donna will be getting the goodness out of it, I have a lot more drive to do it all and put something nice together for her then to do it myself. But all you guys that have met Donna personally would know why I feel this way. She has put up with so much with my bloody cars this year it is time for it to be returned.

Yeah Ash has been flat out around here.
Got a pretty fair deal on the XR. Paid $4200 for it , so didnt steal it but didnt get bent over on it neither. The yard originally had $6k on it (amazing what cash and haggling on a Friday afternoon will get you). Donna is wrapped in it. She still loves her runner and will be sad to see it go but it is time for the old girl to find a new home. Will get some piccies up of the XR tomorrow.
Yeah Phill did well on his one. I want to find one in as good as condition as possible. Im over buying s**t boxes. It just costs more money in the end to get them up to speed then to just buy a clean one and be done with it. Will be looking at a 6 cylinder auto as mechanically it will all be being chnaged before too long anyway. Thats why I want an XH. Newer vehicle and no need for an enginneers as the V8 was available factory. Would prefer white but honestly not too fussy on the colour.
My self limited budget is around the $4k mark. I have been given $4k to play with and the runner is worth $4k to trade so can actually spend $8k but Im just not preparred to. If I can find one at a yard and swap for the runner I will be really happy , but if not I will buy private and move the runner along privately.
You have a freaky nature to find good cars for the right price Ash! Show me what you have got.............LOL

Donna pointed out the green one to me earlier. Would have to look at it before I made a call on it colour wise. The price is realistic and could be screwed down more so it is on the short list for further investigation.
I actually do really like this one but its a bit far away to get there and possibly find its a nugget.

Want to go and look at this one tomorrow.

Have spoke to the guy and it seems to tick the boxes. Being from a yard there is a better then average chance I can do a trade. A clean swap would be very nice. Only problem is he doesnt know if he will be open tomorrow as his salesman has been off crook................

The XR6 is the win for sure.
I want a V8 no exceptions. But a V8 XH costs a bomb and I have pretty much all the gear I need here at my finger tips so buying a lower priced 6 cylinder one and doing an engine change at my leasure is the easy choice to make.
I would dearly love a manual and know where all the gear is available............................ but I know myself Matt+ V8 manual = lots of broken bits.

That would be the one. Is amusing but not as funny as the day I decided I was in the WRC on the way to a job heading down some bush tracks. Yeah you can get that thing somewhat sideways , makes for a fun ride. Apparntly its not as much fun as a passenger..............
