Speaking of which apparently my old man picked it up...

I quite like they way it turned out... Couple of minor imperfections I may have missed when sanding and bogging but for a first go at it I'm quite happy... I sure as hell need to sand the ash tray down to suit but... Slightly gloss compared to the matt of the crinkled finish before and the ash tray looks horrible in it... Was definitely worth having professionally painted than trying to get an aerosol can to stick...

Excuse the mobile phone photo...

Cheers Ben!

I'm pretty happy too... Having this now makes a double DIN unit real worthwhile... Just finishes it off that little bit... Didn't end up being so hard either... Only 3 or 4 arvos work in all... And it's strong being all plastic welded first...

I'd hate to be doing a bumper bar but... Don't like sanding that much...

Cheers,
Tim

If you are towing, I would stay well away from a ceramic, there goes that idea. I tow with my wagon, just got a stock clutch in it at the moment. But my plan when it dies, is to get a new organic clutch with a 40% heavier duty plate, then get internal pivot modified to make it feel like stock i.e, clutch cable still recieves a stock force. The guy who built my ceramic said he could do the whole clutch for $300ish.

Dudes,

Got my Eagle 10.5mm leads and clamps today and a little bit of modification later you get something that looks like this:

So that's that part all set for the motor swap...

Din and a half yes.

The high end had an early DSP add on, but they are pretty rare to find now.

Cheers

Lucky Ben is in here cleaning queries up... Thanks man!

Well... Here it is:

Image

Large pile of stuff (notice the half a renovation in the background)...

Count down is on... Intended start date is friday arvo with a dash removal ready for a motor removal on the saturday... All on the proviso that the clutch is here this week... Pretty sure I'm set then...

New leads
New 120A Bosch Alternator
New hoses
New clutch cable
New clutch
New hoodlining
Machined flywheel
New radiator
New sheer bolts for the ignition barrel

Swapping my near new iridium plugs, the recently cleaned injectors, rocker cover, will check the base cam phasing against ford's spec in the book to determine is the figure given in the book is adv or retarded spec so I know for the future... I need to make a coil pack backet up too because I wont have the AU engine mount in my car... Can anyone link me a photo or such of what people have done in the past, if this has been done in the past previously?

AU bellhousing and wiring and other odds and ends is ready to go... Keeping the ED high pressure power steering hose and hoping the valve will screw into the AU pump to take it (should, same pump)... Compressor lines will be made up as required...

Wiring is mostly done... Few odds and ends to do but not much... Interior light plugs, door ajar plugs, rear door actuator plugs, header tank sensor plug, purge valve plug, centre console stuff... Thats about it from memory...

Got tools lined up... Sort out a motor removing device... Gotta chase up some wiring lugs... Compressor bolts... I think I'm pretty well set for a busy week off work next week...

If I have missed something obvious here but please let me know because I'm trying to be as organised as possible before having unplanned things arrive... Hopefully motor can be in by the end of Sunday and just be left with cabin wiring for the week ahead...

Kind excited... Kinda hoping I've planned for just about everything... :?

Cheers,
Tim

Nooooooo!!!!!!

That photo brings back memories best forgotten LOL.

Good luck with it all Timmy.

However I don't think luck will come into it. You appear to have it pretty well planned mate.

Cheers

This is an AU motor going in my ED yes... Long progress because after next week it will be essentially an AU in an ED frame... It's full wiring looms for proper phasor control as well as sequential injection and run dry capability...

Leads aren't on yet... They're made to suit the AUII coilpack... ED has a dizzy... Pretty sure there is no improvement... Better insulation for higher voltages to prevent it escaping... May help with vibrations breaking the core too... Other than that, no it's just a set of huge, pretty, expensive spark leads... All because eagle don't make a 9mm set for AUII...

Cheers,
Tim
