i feel your pain with injector wires going dodgy, i had to work on a mates car which would only work the injectors if you pushed on them due to the wires... was a PITA to figure out

Thx dude. I'm glad i have a spare loom to rape for parts to repair mine! One loom i didn't cut up by mistake lol.

lol wanna come fix mine? smartlock seems to be playing silly buggers, one minute it will allow power to the fuel pump but not injectors, then it swaps around, so we thought we would be sneaky and bypass it and run the fuel pump from a jumper pack... well the ECU decided it didnt want to play the game still.. and now the starter motor is just engaging and not spinning... soo over the crap. i need a match

Far out dude, what a lot of problems. Sounds like the smart lock might have dry solder joins in it. Time to pull it apart & redo the solders.

I had a few things come up this morning, so I haven't started on putting the car back together yet, but i do have the gaskits i required & the extractors have been welded up as well. :D

Anyway, time to get back in the driveway.

Cheers

I managed to get it back together last night, and fired it up, had 1 & 2 leads around the wrong way, I swapped them around, the steel connector come out of one of the leads. I slid the boot off & reconnected the steel connector, and put the boot back on. I will need to replace that lead, but for now it's ok. I should email IC & E while i'm on the pc & get a quote for 1 lead, the rest are fine, why replace them?

So far, looking good. No coolant leaks. No minor vac leak from the booster line either, car idles better. No air leak at the extractor flange either, so the o2 is working better too. Idle sounds so much better, but i should probably do a ECU reset. The heater even works better too, but the car still doesn't get to proper operating temp, i still need to change the thermostat i think.

Anyway, I will be taking it for a drive soon, so will see how it drives.

Cheers

Took the EB Ghia for a drive tonight, with 6x4 trailer attached to pick some stuff up from my mate, man o man is the gas running RIIIICCCCHHHH! I will hook up the laptop & give it a tune tomorrow. Otherwise it drove well, throttle response is much improved (up to a point on gas), then the car is too rich to keep going. On petrol, it's a huge improvement in throttle response!

Brakes are working better than they have in a long time, as the booster is holding vac better now the hose that was leaking a bit has been changed. Heater even works better, but the car still runs too cold when you get a bit of speed up it, thermostat does need changing.

Cheers

Here's a tease, 2 in one shot....
Attachment:
eb xr8 and eb i6 ghia night rear.JPG

I ended up paying $13 for the intake manifold gaskit & the extractor to cat gaskit. Retail is about $40 for the pair. Staff price is pretty sweet on most things......

I gave the Eb Ghia a tune tonight, didn't get around to it the other day. Running much better to 3500rpm, then it's out of puff on LPG. I need to check the timing & hook up my o2 meter & see what the mixtures are doing, it might be leaning out or it might be trying to run too much ignition timing for the gas.I didn't reset the timing when i removed the dizzy, just put the dizzy back in "close" to where it was before. Pulls a lot harder on petrol, but it's still hard to start on petrol. Cold or hot. LPG warm & hot starts are very quick, so there might be some issue with my petrol injection that needs to be addressed.

For now tho, the last few days have brought a huge improvement to the car. Won't have time to do anything to it for a few days, i worked all day today, and i will be working most of saturday & sunday too. Got a sale on @ repco, so all hands on deck for that...

If anyone is around the werribee & hoppers area, drop in, there is supposed to be some car's on display as well.

Cheers

 I actually thought about stripping the white one to put the gear into the Ghia, but then i thought about it. I would have to match some s1 with s2 wiring to pull it off, and i would also have to remove the gas injection & fit a setup more suited to the v8. That's a fair bit of money. Sure, i could use the impco 425 gear that is on the v8, but i have had injection on the Ghia for ages now (6 years)..........

Why pickup an xr8 in a eb or ed when a stock v8 has the same power? If i had the dosh i wanted a black ghia v8 that had a sunroof & full leather, that was at the auctions, very little front damage, would have been easy to fix, but it wasn't on gas, otherwise it would be soooooooo tempting to have bought it, fixed it up & sold off the i6 Ghia.

But then again, doing all that means the holdens in the shed don't get any work done on them. I don't get enough time to think about them let alone work on them now. Such a dilemma!

Cheers

WILDEB, he mentioned earlier in the thread that one tank was full the other was empty, so he joined the 2 and opened them up thus making them both half full and at the same pressure.. im not sure what he is doing with the gas in each after that lol

just make a fitting and connect it to the BBQ, i was informed that its 100% safe it just burns green instead of blue

Dodgy maybe. Did it leak? No. Did it work - yes, i was moving the lpg from the white tank to the one in the Ghia, so i could use it. White tank is from my torana, and it's way outta date. To be able to have it re-stamped or recycled it has to be empty. I got 1/2 the tank across the first time, a 1/4 the 2nd time, and then i have bled off a bit a couple of other times, to the point the white tank is about 99% empty.

Gravity can help the process, but you really need a pump to fully empty a tank. Some gas injection setups use std petrol pumps, and I have an idea on making a pump hose setup down the track. For now, what i have works good enough.

Cheers

Seen BBQXr6 today out the front of work, had a great chat to the owner about the gas injection setup he has, running BRC injectors, a modified fuel rail to handle the LPG, and the gas injectors have been fit in place of the petrol injectors. Running off a wolf ecu. The gas system needs more work to look pretty, but it works rather well, and it will be getting some work when the dudes planned turbo setup goes under the bonnet.

It's given me a few ideas to think some more about.

Cheers
