Now I'm all for individuality but still, I'm intrigued as to the psychology behind this build!!!

What ever floats your boat I guess!!

I think its because he's on his p's and can't drive a turbo.

I personally think its awesome what hes done. Just imagine what it would be like when hes off his p's and bolts a turbo on!

After the basic mods there isnt alot more you can do for $1000 haha Diff gears are a great mod if you havnt already done so..

hahaha ahhh so over answering that question.. Obviously 4ltr turbos haul a** and power come easy.. But yer like mentioned im on my p's but i just really wanted to see how much was in these things i guess haha plus it is alota fun to drive and the idle suprizes lots of people haha

Hopefully by the end of the year ill have another 'good' car (turboed territory 500+hp anyone??) haha then ill be able to go a bit more crazier and not worry about having to drive it to work every day :P

A BA is usually around 140rwkw stock, & a BF usually around 146rwkw stock. So it looks like your motor had about 6 extra rwkw in it's stock form.

Current Status of this car off AFF
Quote:
Not a 12 Yet - This was done if full street trim.. spare tire the lot.. Car was driven off the line no stalling..

This is due to the fact the auto still doesnt want to be reved past 6000rpm.. In first you have to shift the car at about 4500rpm so it doesnt hit limiter and go into limp mode.. Also was told it had a slight hesitation when you first stand on it..

Once able to rev the car harder should be able to make the most of the 4000rpm stall off the line (with decent tyres) achillies arnt the best racing tyre :P haha

anyhow to effort by Zane.. Should see more out of it yet!

With that power, the car should be seeing mid 12's. Can't wait to see it go once you've sorted out the stalling off the line, and the limiter.

Excellent thread and a credit to you Trav for doing up a N/A. Still can't understand why forum members have to knock a young fella on P's doin up his car. Should be more supportive as he is testing and tuning and spending heaps while we get to see the results for free.

Mate do you know if the Atomic Stage 4 Cams 306551 you recommend suit a BA Turbo. Don't want to ring Atomic cos I not getting the cams through them and the website doesn't say much. I'm in Tsv and should come for a drive to see you'se at ProDyno. Loved there old Cortina drag car.

^ Prices wise, he mentioned it earlier or in another post. But it was around the $20k mark due to the trial and error he went through to achieve it. You could easily do it for far less though.

So true about the massive dollars spent but to be the first in your town or city then you have to pay for originality. Mostly the high cost is the labour for mechanics who trial and error and charge per hour for it. My example is my set of Clevo 4. iron heads that had $2,500 spent at Steve Gaye in Mackay to flow 656hp and 0.650" lift. Not much to show for the money or what was done to the intake but the exhausts were plated up and well at least I can say I run standard cast iron 4. iron heads like old mate runs a Naturally Aspirated BF XR6 which beats stock XR6 Turbos. And whilst on his P's too.

In rural towns and cities like we are in, if it wasn't for us old stupid fellas spending s**t loads on porting and bogging up the cast iron exhaust ports then the alloy head guys had nowhere to start their designs from. I saw Terry Parker and was gonna lend him my Track Boss manifold so he could design his Funnel Web around them but in the end distance was a factor and yeah could save him s**t loads of time in R&D but at someone else's hard work.

Anyway mate , sent you a PM about Atomic Stage 3 cams. Will they work well in a BA2 XR6T or need a tune. Specs look similar to the baby Crow 222825 in my ED XR6 and didn't need a tune with it.

Any larger cams need a tune, especially in the B series. A stage 3 Atomic would give you a lot of low-mid range power, considering those cams start working at about 1500rpm. Anything bigger though, and they'll be a pig to drive, especially if you're wanting your turbo to spool early.
