I bought this as my first car for $1650, thought it was a pretty good deal considering it was all in pretty good nic, done 225000ks hardly any rust, 3-or-so inch sports bars, bull bar, 15" CSA rims and "unique" body kit. Its a column shift auto, drives pretty well no significant engine probs, it had a stuffed o2 sensor, a noisy tappet and a slight coolant leak from the thermostat

This is what it looked like the day i got it

First thing i did was clean the interior out, and bought a pod filter which i managed to get in the original air box with out breaking anything, i'll get a pic of that soon

Then i started to hate the stickers on the sides, so i attacked them with a hair dryer and a wire brush, which left big scratches and i fixed that by sanding the panels back ad respraying them :P

Next thing i did was get rid on the stupid BFGoodrich rear tyres, as you couldnt drive it in the wet..... safely that is :)
i also tryed to paint the rims black, turned out ok but will by new ones when i get the money.
Bought a cheap sony stereo that came with 2 speakers, i butchered the aircon wiring installing this :P, kinda cheated too as i threw a home stereo sub behind the passengers seat, works good too,

This is how the car looked as of then....

I also decided i hated the original XG cluster and went and got a EA Spack cluster from the wrekers, put some red LED's behind it and this is what it looked like

bad quality pic

Few days ago i got a Manta 2 1/2" catback installed and the suspension checked, quoted about $700 too get everything sorted with that, sounds heaps better now tho

after driving at night in the rain me and my dad decided the bullbar was blocking the light from the head lights and i was going too take it off, got that far then when i went to put the bumper back on i relised theres no front bar, so i'm gunna get that tommro
Image

Few things i plan on doing in the future...

Paint it black
Extractors and highflow cat
Mabey a cam, want some more good low to mid range power :)
Set of new wheels
Get a custom hardtop made to fit with sportsbars

And has anybody ever seen this kind of body kit before on a XG/XF??

Cheers, Yer the EA cluster went straight in but the EA has no smartlock light so i got the one out of the original XG cluster and blue tacked it into an empty globe slot on the back of the EA cluster :P, then just connected the wire for it, i'll try and get a pic of the airbox tommoro,

here's a pic of the pod in the box,

Image
Image

Its not the biggest pod, but all i did was get some unused intake hose with a 90 degree bend in it and cut it too fit, seems to be working pretty well, i also got my new front bumper sanded and ready to paint, just need to work out how to attach it to the car properly,

After walking around the wreckers the other day i've decided to try and put a broad band manifold in there sometime, i think i've got every thing sorted, would i have to replace my ecu with a auto EL one, would everything still work fine?

I got the bumper attached properly today,
Image
and painted it black (will get pics tomorrow) looks good

Since i been thinking of a BBM conversion i thought i would have a look under the hood too work out what would be involved and noticed my coolant had dropped to below the min mark?, got under the car and noticed coolant dripping off the oil filter, after awhile i found the problem was a random "Sealed" hose under the intake manifold that comes from the thermostat and goes nowhere

I think i know pretty much everything i need too convert it to a BBM, can anybody list the things i would need to do this so i can work out how much its going to cost? i'm going to have a look at clearance tomorrow and come up with some intake ideas :)

when i gave it some thought my idea was to use the el air box lid modified to fit on XG air box bottom (EL air box bottom wont fit).you can then keep panel filter and run the CIA to radiator support or wherever you wish. youll definately need to move coolant surge tank, might be able to use an e series battery case/support set up.

The thing that put me off was the ecu to run it.youll need to change engine loom to suit an el ecu. and ive heard clearence is an issue.. cant confirm it.the bonnet should clear it i woulda thought

Yer i'm pretty sure clearance wont be problem, but i was thinking about the ecu, to run the manifold properly it needs an el ecu, and the only wire i would need would be the one for the release solenoid, now since the XG has smartlock and is the same year as EBII and ED, i should be able to just plug the EL ecu in and everything would work, is this correct?

Also got some pics of the painted bumper (Ignore the advertising in the background)

A mate suggested that i paint the bottom half of the car black, leave the top white?

umm i've been reading this guide http://www.fordmods.com/documents.php?d=85 and it says that you would need the EL ecu to run the BBM properly, but that guide is also for and AU engine, so the only thing i need to know is would the EL ecu be able to run the XG engine without problems or is there another way i could go about doing this?

An EL ECU should run an XG just fine.

Unless there is some really subtle difference between the EBII/ED and the XG.

Yeah it does, but the EL ECU should be compatible with it. EL's have the same number of pics and are not coil pack.

There's some people on here that have run EL ECUs in EB and EDs without any problems. Which is interestingly weird :p
