Hey, I need to solder some stuff up on my car to get it back on the road. I have a crappy soldering iron from repco that gets literally RED HOT and it's bloody useless. What soldering iron should I buy, I don't have huge amounts of $$$, and I'd prefer an electric one over a gas one, Can I get a decent one under $50? Any advice would be appreicated.

Go to Altronics. 25w is a good general purpose iron. Around $15.

I got a 40w one from jaycar. I think it was about $18.95 from memory. Soldering stereo wiring was a snap.
