Just a follow up from previous topic

I had a phone conversation with an Auto Electrician yesterday to do a bench test on the removed alternator, I described the problem I experienced.

He said the alternator failure was caused by power steering fluid going inside the alternator resulting in the regulator being "popped" which caused all the issues I had.

I've replaced the High Pressure steering hose about 2 years ago.

I'm at a loss as to how that fluid got inside the alternator. Yet I did see the alternator saturated with oil. I was told there is another o ring in the swivel link that causes the problem (I've never seen a swivel link on mine).

I have a leaky power steering rack with fluid escaping the rubber boot as a slow leak but that's a lot further away from the alternator.

Does anyone know where this other o ring is hiding? I was told they are not serviceable and a new hose would be required.

Cheers

I'm going to rebuild the alternator, cheaper than a brand new one.

Does anyone know where I can purchase the "Regulator" from, The alternator is Mitsubishi type even though its on a Ford...12v - 110amp

Thanks

Here are the photos of my alternator which has been stripped down to some degree.

Question is. What is needed to remove slip ring and bearing from shaft, how to remove contact brushes and how to remove voltage regulator so I can replace those parts with new replacement parts.
