Hi gang, long time no post. Since selling the Fairmont ive been wallowing around in a BA Mk1 XR8, it's doing the job but the autobox is just about had enough of propelling 1800kg, cue: T56 manual conversion.

Now the mechanical side of things is straight forward, very easy. The one thing that has me puzzled is the wiring. I know people are going to say 'do a search' and i have, but there are no difinitive answers for my questions.

-First off, i have the gearbox harness from a BF XR8, it has the wiring for the rearmost oxygen sensors (which are not required, being that is going into a BA) and the wiring for the reverse lockout (which i'll rig up a relay and hook to the brake lamp switch) and reverse lamps. These wires can be weeded out no problems. The harness is pictured below, minus half a 'kay of tape...

-Secondly, can the original auto BA ECU (being a 2003 model) be re-programmed with the required parameters to make the car behave with the manual gearbox? I still haven't been able to find a straight answer if this is possible or not. Strangely, ive been given a five speed ECU with the conversion, could this be used also? Or should i be going back to the wreckers asking for a BF ECU?

-Thirdly, does any of the wiring on the engine harness need to be linked/terminated where it branches off for the autobox for everything to work correctly?

I think after this long winded post, that's all i need to know, if anyone can help i'd be hugely appreciative :D

Not sure on most your questions, but I do remember Mark with the red el xr6 with the bf F6 motor got his ecu reprogrammed on Perth eseries. He had it changed from auto to manual over east somewhere. Hit him up with a pm.

Yair, i've done the same thing, putting a BA engine into an EL. Wasn't hard getting the ECU programmed, but i heard around that the VERY early BA auto ECU's can't be programmed to have manual parameters on them. I know with BF ECU's theres no problem, just wanting to get this myth busted/confirmed.

...Anyone?

Or can anyone put us onto someone who has done the conversion before?
